Total productive maintenance (TPM) is a system for maintaining and improving production equipment through machines, processes, and employees. It has eight pillars, including autonomous maintenance, where operators perform basic daily maintenance tasks like cleaning, lubrication, inspection, and re-tightening of machines. These autonomous maintenance steps help uncover problems, reduce wear, and ensure equipment can be safely operated and maintained.

- 4. What is TPM? ● In industry, total productive maintenance is a system of maintaining and improving the integrity of production and quality systems through the machines, equipment, processes, and employees that add business value to an organization.

- 7. What is Autonomous Maintenance? ● Autonomous Maintenance is a maintenance performed by the operators of the machine. ● Basic maintenance that can be easily performed on a daily basis, e.g. Cleaning, lubrication, inspection & re-tightening (Clirt) .

- 9. 1. Cleaning This is a similar stage to the 5S Shine stage with a similar purpose. We need to remove all dirt and grime from the machine, not for the purposes of making the machine pretty but to uncover and highlight any and all problems within the machine. This will require the machine to be taken out of production, all fluids drained and covers removed so that every part of the machine can be inspected and cleaned. We seek to remove the grime of past years and bring the machine back to how it was when it was first purchased, thoroughly inspecting each and every part of the machine to highlight any damage or wear.
- 10. 2. Lubrication. ● Lubrication is the process or technique employed to reduce friction between, and wear of one or both, surfaces in proximity and moving relative to each other, by interposing a substance called a lubricant in between them.
- 11. 3. Inspection. ● The purpose of an inspection is to identify whether work equipment can be operated, adjusted and maintained safely – with any deterioration detected and remedied before it results in a health and safety risk
- 12. 4.Re-Tightening. ● After inspection has done if you found any thing missed placed or not tighten properly then you should have to done it with your own if its possible or otherwise take the help of maintenance to clear the issue.
