How to create a company in Tally.ERP 9
Creating a company in Tally.ERP 9 is a simple, one-time activity. The company data created
can be modified, exported, and other company data can be imported into your company at
any given point of time.
Open Tally.ERP9
(Or) Go to Gateway of Tally > Alt+F3 > Create Company.
Enter all required details and Accept it Press “Ctrl+A”

How to Enable GST Settings in Tally?
Activating/Enabling GST for Tally Your Company
To use Tally.ERP 9 for GST compliance, you need to activate the GST feature. Once activated,
GST-related features are available in ledgers, stock items, and transactions, and GST returns
can be generated.
To activate GST
1. Open the company for which you need to activate GST.
2. Press F11 > F3.
3. Enable Goods and Services Tax (GST) - Yes.
4. Set/alter GST details - Yes.
State: Displays the state you have selected for your company. Helps in identifying local and
interstate transactions. If you change the state, it will be updated in the company details.
5. Specify the GSTIN/UIN for the business. This can be printed in the invoices as required.
You can specify this later.
6. Specify Applicable from date. GST will be applicable for your transactions from this date
onwards.
You can record transactions using the ledgers with GST details, and print invoices with
GSTIN.

How to Create Custom Voucher Type?
Creating Voucher Types like [GST-Sales, VAT-Sales, Retail Invoice, Tax Invoice, Cash Sales etc…]
To create a voucher type
1. Go to Gateway of Tally > Accounts Info. or Inventory Info. > Voucher Type > Create.
2. Enter the Name of the voucher.
3. Select the type of voucher.
4. Enter the abbreviation in the Abbreviation field, if required.
5. Select the Method of voucher numbering from the Methods of Numbering list, which appears as
shown below:
Enter all required details and Accept it Press “Ctrl+A”

How to set/change manual voucher numbering method?
Methods of Voucher Numbering
You can select the required Method of voucher numbering from the voucher type
creation/alteration screen.
The Methods of Numbering list appears as shown below:
Manual
Select Manual for numbering vouchers manually. Set Prevent Duplicated to Yes to avoid
duplicate voucher numbers during entry.
You can enable this option only if there are no transactions of this voucher type.

Tally Data Backup
Taking a Backup of Your Data
Taking a backup of your data at regular intervals helps retrieve your backed up data when
your existing data is lost. Using Tally.ERP 9, you can easily take a backup of your company
data any time and restore it when you need.
To take a backup of your data
1. Go to Gateway of Tally > F3: Cmp Info > Backup to view the Backup Companies on
Disk screen.
2. Source - The folder path where your company data is stored. By default, the folder
path of your existing company data is displayed here.
3. Destination - The folder path where the data backup has to be stored. You can store
the backup locally on your computer, on any external storage device, or on a storage
space on the network.
4. Select the required company from the List of Companies. Select All items to back up
data of all the companies.
5. Press Ctrl+A to initiate the backup process.
Or Simply Copy Data folder to safe location from data location

Select Company option allows you to open another company from the list of companies
listed in data folder which you may have created/copied earlier.
