- 6. The Traditional Datacenter Approach 1. Hardware based provisioning – One customer One hardware model 2. For scaling up more users more hardware required 3. TCO and Setup costs are high 4. Total provisioning time is also high
- 8. And Then Came Virtualization 1. Hypervisor: abstraction for H/W S/W 2. Abstraction allows for the pooling of storage, network and compute resources both on hardware and manpower that can be dynamically allocated on-demand 3. - 9. Virtualization Gotchas 1. Does not provide flexibility in terms of growing customer scenarios 2. Customer infrastructure has a tight integration with the DC infrastructure 3. No automization 4. Though change times are less but they are still high enough 5. Service models are very tightly integrated with vendor architecture – No vendor neutrality 6. Thus – No extra benefits from traditional model except for better utilization of resources
