Priorities
 Reliable, Cost Effective ICT infrastructure – Implementation of an innovative








technological framework that enables the integration of future business
support systems, without incurring a need for significant re-investment. This
initiative has been partially completed with the implementation of our fully
switched fibre network.
Convenient, Accessible Service Delivery – More responsive, seamless high
quality service delivery of support to all members of the user community.
Improved Information Management – Facilitate the management of
information as a core asset of government to achieve public policy objectives
while providing automated decision support capabilities.
e-Collaboration – A single, unified seamless communications framework based
on a VoIP platform that supports the simultaneous, real-time, borderless
engagement of staff, thereby increasing the efficiency of team collaboration.
Information Security – Knowledge assets are secure from malicious intrusions,
automated threats, data loss and inadvertent distribution.
ICT Strategy 1: Cost Effective ICT
Infrastructure Growth Capacity
 Consolidate ICT operations for external departments

and agencies.
 Unify communication and collaboration between
MEM and other ministries and agencies.
 Growth in data storage requirements over consecutive
5 – 8 year periods.
ICT Strategy 2: Implement
Infrastructure Security Management
 Enforce strict passwords, lockout and removable

storage policies via a comprehensive computer user
policy.
 Achieve more efficient security management coverage
over the LAN and WiFi networks.
 Provide a real-time monitoring and proactive incident
management .
 Mitigate against both internal and external threats.
ICT Strategy 3: Migrate to a Unified
Office Communications Architecture
 To facilitate high quality decision making by Ministry;
 Decision Support
 Develop and implement a Decision Support System.
 Convert Library and Registry records to electronic

format.
 Acquisition and implementation of Microsoft
SharePoint 2010.
What is Needed
 High-speed Internet connection rated at the minimum

10Mb – the current connection is rated at 1.5Mb
 Backup Internet connection – currently there is only
one connection and no failover.
 Additional staff – the Division has the Systems
Administrator and Technical Support Specialist to
serve the entire Ministry.
 Training – purchase of material to be used by ICT staff
in-house.

ICT Strategy 2: Implement Infrastructure Security Management  Enforce strict passwords, lockout and removable storage policies via a comprehensive computer user policy.  Achieve more efficient security management coverage over the LAN and WiFi networks.  Provide a real-time monitoring and proactive incident management .  Mitigate against both internal and external threats.

What is Needed  High-speed Internet connection rated at the minimum 10Mb – the current connection is rated at 1.5Mb  Backup Internet connection – currently there is only one connection and no failover.  Additional staff – the Division has the Systems Administrator and Technical Support Specialist to serve the entire Ministry.  Training – purchase of material to be used by ICT staff in-house.
