We are a charity based in Birmingham that supports people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. We run a center of excellence for adults over 19 that provides training in life skills, arts, music and accessing the community to promote independence. We also have a social work department called URconnectABLE that provides advocacy, advice, emotional support and help with issues like housing and benefits. Our goal is to empower people and help them feel fulfillment through individualized support.

- 2. Cerebral Palsy Midlands aims to provide all people within our community of interest with assistance and support that will help them to maximise their abilities and independence. This is done through supporting individuals at all times; demonstrating a sensitive, understanding and patient approach Our employees and volunteers fully respect the wishes and views of all people who use our services. Our employees and volunteers encourage people to get involved in many different types of educational and enrichment activities, as well as accessing the community

- 4. We are a Birmingham based charity who support people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities throughout Birmingham, Solihull, Sandwell and Dudley. Other disabilities are defined as people who have physical and/or learning disabilities through oxygen deprivation to the brain We run a centre of excellence from our base in Harborne, Birmingham, for adults over the age of 19. This facilitates and enables people to attain greater independence, dignity and achievement. We provide work based training in Art and Music, for those who have a talent in these fields, and wish to become practicing artists and performers. We do training in life skills, and we run a programme of social events and accessing the community; dedicated to promoting social inclusion. We also run a transport service for our users to access the community, as well as accessing our centre We have a dedicated social work department that runs our URconnectABLE project. This encompasses both informed advocacy and advice. We promote self-advocacy, but where people are not able to represent themselves, we can act on their behalf. We provide help with housing, emotional support, help with financial matters, benefit claims, representation at tribunals and help with simplifying a bureaucratic system that surrounds legislation regarding disability
- 5. Referrals We can accept referrals from the local authority, other organisations and also self referrals. We are always happy to help people who enquire into our services and encourage people to visit the centre and have a tour of our facilities, meet our people and staff/volunteers, and see what activities they would like to get involved in. - 8. Transport We have 2 minibuses and can provide transport to people if they cannot make their own way to the centre. The charge for transport is person centred and depends on how far away someone lives from the centre Meal Service We have a lunchtime menu available to people, with meals provided by Wiltshire Farm Foods. Lunch currently costs £4.00 for a meal and pudding.
- 9. The Pathfinders is a monthly social club that meets at the centre. The club hosts many different activities and entertainment for its members, which range from family BBQ nights, discos, to having theatre groups performing. Our music group, Being Heard, also does regular performances during the year Membership for the year is £15.00. Please speak to Adam Siviter if you need any more information concerning Pathfinders
- 11. LIFE Skills (LIFE standing for learning independence for everyone) is an educational project to develop the skills necessary for daily life. This includes money management, awareness of services in the community, personal hygiene and other skills. Regular activities of the project include cooking, literacy, numeracy, health, wellbeing and accessing the community.
- 12. Being Heard is a music and work based project which aims to support people in learning the theory of music and how to compose and arrange music pieces. Our music group also gains vocal and instrument tuition. Our musicians and singers gain fulfilment by being active performers and performing music shows at local venues. The group has also networked with the Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre Trust, and will be working with them on their “Arts Champions” project. Being Heard is facilitated by an experienced music teacher.

A visual arts project (VeraNic – meaning ‘True Image’), which aims to support people to show off aspects of their lives through the medium of art, as well as imaginative and themed artworks and crafts. The group gain study in all aspects of art and can be considered practicing artists. We have recently had an arts and history exhibition in the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, titled Empowered, in which our artists contributed all the works on display. - 14. URconnectABLE is an informed advocacy and advice service for people with cerebral palsy, other related disabilities, plus their families and carers. We promote self advocacy, but where people are not able to represent themselves, we can act on their behalf.
