                                        ABSTRACT

a) Background/Objectives:

In order to present all clinical and simulation experiences in a Spanish version for
Colombia and to Hispanic communities, an open on-line SIM-e-book in Spanish, has been
developed for facilitators and students involving the evidence-based SIM health practices,
edited and designed as aclinical SIM e-book entitled "MANUAL OF BEST PRACTICE
IN CLINICAL SIMULATION FOR BUILDING SCENARIOS IN SIMULATION
BASED ON EVIDENCE”(Manual de buenasprácticas en simulación clínica para la
construcción de escenarios basados en la evidencia) where facilitators and students of
Health Faculties in Ibero-America and Spanish speakers, can access free on linein an open-
access version,to know about research and educational innovation developing in clinical
simulation for health students around the world. TheseSIM e-book includes more than
twelve chapters in a web format whereusers can access to the links on-line, websites,
instruments, guides, standards, moulage techniques, terminology, in educational simulation
resources and technical manuals of some simulators, (virtual IV, Noelle, skill tasks),
photographs and moulage techniques, schemes has beenadapted in a Spanish version for
this job. This work pretends to improve and divulge options for sim-labsin order that they
can move fromde Know-how to de do-howand also to the “ask-how” in clinical simulation
for Spanish communities.

It is expected to be a contribution as a member of the INACSL to all Spanish-speaking
Latin American, Sim-labs facilitators in all countries, Central America and Latin America.
Withapprox.240 pages, this “SIM e-Book”contain the following chapters:

1. Introduction (introducción)
2. History of clinical simulation in Colombia (Historia de la simulación clínica en
Colombia)
3. Principles of clinical simulation (Principios de la simulación clínica)
4. State of the art clinical simulation (Estado de arte de la simulación clínica)
5. PracticeStandards for clinical simulation (Estándares de simulación clínica INACSL)
6. Virtual tools and software for clinical simulation (Herramientas virtuales para simulación
clínica)
7. Ideas for the creation of role playscenarios for simulation and comprehensive clinical
(Ideas para la creación de escenarios para simulación y comprensión de la clínica)
8. Assessment methods in clinical practice using simulation. (Métodos de evaluación en la
práctica clínica utilizando la simulación)
9. Keys to coordinators and administratorsof simulation centers (Claves para coordinadores
y administradores de centros de simulación).
10. Glossaryand terminology for clinical simulation (Glosario y terminología en simulación
clínica)
11. Guidelines and use politics clinical simulation center (Modelo de guías y políticas de
uso del centro de simulación.
12. References and Weblinks on simulation (Referencias y weblinks)
13. Annexes (Anexos)
a.Manuals management and clinical cases useful in clinical simulation (Noelle,
Virtual IV, takes blood gas) (Manuales de manejo de Noelle, Virtual IV, manotoma de

15.Bibliography (Bibliografía)

The link to this e-book will be projected to be free on line on March 2013, and will have
access to share on the INACSL in Las Vegas 2013. (At this moment we are on
construction, permissions solicitudes, review of design and Spanish language adaptation).

b) Methods/ aims or expected outcomes

In Colombia the clinical simulation has taken a lot of strength, from its beginnings as chairs
support and critical care medicine, today it has established itself as an alternative education
in the areas of health for critical judgment, management and improve security protocols the
patient. To carry out this e-book, has made the lifting of major clinical simulation centers in
the country, with the support of the “AsociaciónColombiana de Simulación Clínica”, a
compilation of history based on the historical review of the book by Dr. Hernando Matiz,
expert in simulation in Colombia. Additionally, the SIM e-book has made translations of
instruments for evaluation checklists, simulator operation manuals and a glossary of the
main terms used in simulation. In chapter 5, we present a Spanish adaptation of the
Standards of Practice-based on clinical simulation Standards supplement of best practice:
Simulation guidelines published by the INACSL and edited by Elsevier (actually
permissions are in process). Some ideas from conference materials was extracted and
shared in INACSL in 2010 in Orlando and in 2011 at San Antonio, Texas was translates,
adapted to cultural and protocols in some topics of interest for the Hispanic community.
Add,interesting links based on information from clinical simulation webinar has retrofitted
to this publication. The standards were adapted from Clinical simulation articles of Elsevier
Journal: Clinical Simulation in Nursing was reviewed. More than 120 pictures, schemes
and figures were adapted to this electronical version.

c) Findings/ orevaluation data

This SIM e-book has been prepared for consultation on the Internet for students and
teachers of Spanish speakers in Spanish online version interested in teaching and learning
in clinical simulation. It is currently being revised translations, adapting to Spanish charts,
figures, permits and authorizations for publication.

d) Conclusion/ Implications
Adapt standards of best practice and simulation based on evidence for Spanish
communities, working on educative materials on simulation todifferent Health
         programs.
This material can increase theclinical simulation training assistance and
participation in national and international events in clinical simulation.
This material was used with students of Optometry, Nursing, Surgical assistant,
         radiology, Physioterapy.
On this e book, there are on-line links to high-fidelity videos, weblinks on
         simulation, experts SIM-labs.
This e-book has links to the Moodle website with basic management guidelines
of the institution simulators (adapted to Spanish).
Create a team work between the chiefs and teachers of different health
programsto improve best standards of Sim based on evidence.
Periodical training on high tech simulations and maintenance of these in Spanish
         language.

e) Relevance to conference themes

Every time simulation centers for Spanish speaking countries are more developed around
the world and involve new health programs, through innovation. New advances in clinical
nursing simulation increasingly contributing to the training of researchers and facilitators in
these areas around the world like a global resources for sim-facilitators, working with e-
Spanish Standards prepared by INACSL and implementing evidence-based scenarios
contribute to improve the overall quality of education in clinical simulation around the
world and adapted to Spanish populations and share the innovation of augmented reality
towards simulation in radiology, the adaptation of simulation terminology to Spanish
languages´s, the implementation of visual health materials for teaching and the creation of a
cholecystectomy model by students of surgical assistant, the developing leadership
strategies for the creation of high performance collaborative groups are some of the main
experiences developed for the Centro de Simulación integral en salud which enrich these
material and to contribute towards the simulation based on evidence.
