ASSURE Method Assignment
Analyze Learners
This lesson is for 1st graders. This class consists of 17 students that are around six and seven
years old. There are ten boys and seven girls. Seventy percent of the students are white, twenty
percent are African-American, and ten percent are Latino. Also, seven of them have mild to
severe ADHD. They are a class of diverse cultures and learning styles so the lessons will have to
offer variety. Even though they may have noticed that the weather changes around the year, they
may not know why or what those times are called.
State Objectives
By the end of the year, students will be able to recite the months of the year in different orders
and recall facts about each month of the year with 85% accuracy through pictures of each season,
games about the months, songs listing the months, and association with other things that are
relevant in their lives.
Select Methods, Media, and Materials
The months of the year will be taught through pictures, games, songs, and association with other
things relevant in their life. In using pictures, students will get pictures of different times in the
season and have to identify the season along with the months in that season. Songs that show
different times of the year can be used to help them identify seasons. They can also associate
relevant things in their life with each month. Such as if their birthday falls in April then that
would help them remember it easier. Materials needed would be technology and websites such as
Youtube. Google can be used to find pictures.
Utilize Media and Materials
Preparation for this lesson will include finding pictures and videos that accurately depict the
seasons, games that test their knowledge fairly seeing as how they’re special education, and
finding things that they can associate the months with that they will remember easily. I will also
need a computer and internet to access these things.
Require Learner Participation
Learner participation will be required when watching the videos and viewing the pictures. Also,
when we play the games they will need to answer them and listen to their peers’ answers.
Evaluate and Review
The students’ knowledge will be evaluated through one on one conversations with the teacher as
well as how they participate in class activities.
