- 2. Coursework In A2 I had to create a movie trailer that had t go together with an ancillary task of making a magazine front cover along with a trailer poster. Thriller is the chosen genre from which I had to create codes and conventions for that trailer, putting the unique selling point into three different products, trailer, magazine front cover and trailer poster. I put my unique selling point into three different products to ensure effectiveness and interest within my trailer.

Magazine Front Cover After extensive research on different genres, front cover of magazines and watching other created film trailers, the purpose of what I was about to create became clearer as the purpose of creating these three documents through image, use of color and chosen tag line. To ensure that my magazine front cover was attractive and sellable, I had analyze one specific magazine cover that had caught my eye. The next slide is my analysis of Empire’s Magazine front cover.

Tittle The color of the title is big and bold, it goes under the head of the main characters head, this attracts the customer by giving it a 3D look to the magazine Film Tittle The actual films name is going across the body of the character in this front cover, to ensure the viewer knows what the name of the film is Image The image contains the main character, the character is enlarged Gun The gun allows the viewer an insight of what the film or trailer’s genre is about Recognition The magazine claiming that it’s the world’s biggest magazine Barcode The barcode located at the side of the magazine front cover Clips Four clips of what other movies this magazine talks about or has included
- 5. Magazine Tittle The ULTIMATE tittle going under the head of the main character Image Image of the main character taking up most of the page, big and clear picture. Barcode The barcode located on the side of the magazine front cover Movie Tittle The movie title is placed just above the additional clips, across the middle of the main characters body in clear red color Recognition I've placed “Britain's number one movie magazine as a claim of the magazine, towards the very top of the magazine cover. Clips A row of clips that are to be included or talked about within this magazine, going across the bottom of the front cover.

Effectiveness I believe my magazine front cover has shown that its effectiveness through display combined with other products, as it shows the character who is trying to avenge his friend who was brutally murdered. This emphasis the thriller which gives the reader a reason on why to purchase this magazine, I would add more color on the front cover to ensure that its eye catching instead of being plain and dull.

Trailer Poster After analyzing a dozen different trailer posters, I had chosen to use Adulthood, this is because the film is in the similar genre to the trailer I have created, the use of color and place of image is exactly what I was planning on to create for my trailer and magazine cover. The next slide shows my analysis of the trailer cover and how its similar to the one I had created.

Views The views of this film located at the top of the poster in bold writing Date The date of the release of this movie located at the bottom of the trailer poster Characters Image of all the main characters who are involved in this film placed all together in the middle of the image Taken Part Small writing of who has taken part in creating this movie, this includes screen play, make up and the producer of this film, located at the bottom of the screen. Color Dull and dark colored used to give that serious outlook and what this film may be about, use of dark orange and black.

Name Of Main Character At the top of the trailer poster, in large black writing Tittle The film tittle going across the middle of the page in large and clear writing Image The image of the Main character on the left hand side of the trailer, its big and clear showing him looking into the distance Taken Part All the people who have taken part in the film across the bottom of the trailer poster. The Genre After doing research on certain trailers, I have learned that my chosen genre is adds effect to those three created products, as it includes the same concept in terms of color, use of image, placing titles and texts in the right places. Having the main character on my magazine front cover gives the idea to the audience of who’s side to be on, seeing as my character on the front of my magazine front cover is also the main character on my trailer poster and main clips in my trailer itself. Using the same fonts for my cover and trailer poser creates a link between the two products.
