UNIT 1 CHAPTER 2.1
Selecting and Charting a Good Career Path

1
Selecting and Charting a
          Good Career Path

Everybody desires a career that is
    fulfilling, rewarding, and enjoyable.

2
Career

    The general course or
    progression of one’s working
    life

3
Today, finding the right career is not an
easy task, as the world is getting more
    competitive and technical every day.
4
The good thing is new opportunities
5
are opening up in the job market.
These new jobs require skills – especially
    in math and science.
6
Science

              Math

That’s today’s challenge; you need to take
as many courses in these fields as you can.
7
Career opportunities today tend to
require skills in which of these
    subjects?

    A. Communication and writing
    B. Math and science
    C. Foreign language and humanities
    D. Social sciences and computer
       science

    subjects?

    A. Communication and writing
    B. Math and science
    C. Foreign language and humanities
    D. Social sciences and computer
       science

9
YOU need to think about grades. Good
grades open doors of opportunities while
     poor grades close them.
10
Let’s say you want to
     be a doctor or lawyer.

You need good grades in high school to
get into college and then good grades in
college to get into medical school or law
     school.
11
The Future is Now

It is never too early to start thinking about
     where you want to go.
12
The decisions you make now are important.
If you have an idea where you want your
career to go, NJROTC will help you focus,
and focus will help you succeed in school
13
   and life.
Even though the future seems far
     away, high school students can
start planning for their careers by
     making good grades and
     _______.

     A. working after school
     B. joining clubs with
        opportunities for volunteering
     C. choosing courses wisely
     D. participating in sports
