Context Matters? An Empirical Study
Some implications:

1. A walking-friendly transit corridor can enlarge
   catchment area significantly.
   => i.e.,The “Integrated-boulevard “ lengthens BRT access
walk distance by 150-170m controlling for confounding
   factors.

2. Accounting for corridor type and station context may
improve transit ridership demand analysis in China.

3. Stop building superblocks and learn from the old
   typologies.
=> More mixed use, less building setback, traffic calming
   measures, parking restrictions, etc.

Brtod Principals for China- A Broader Vision
1. Start with good DNAs: Small block instead of superblock
2. Develop walking & biking friendly neighborhoods and streets
3. Integrate BRT with other transit systems
4. Zone for mixed use
5. Match density to transit capacity
6. Create compact regions with short commutes
7. Increase mobility by regulating parking and road use
