The proposed hydropower scheme would be constructed in the French Alps, damming the Ubaye River to create an artificial reservoir with a max surface elevation of 1650m. Water from the reservoir would flow through a 2558m penstock and power a 495MW Pelton turbine located 850m below in the Lac de Serre-Ponçon reservoir. The scheme is estimated to have an average power output of 50.47MW and annual energy generation potential of 442GWh, with an efficiency of 87%. Improvements could include adding a pumped-storage system or replacing the Pelton turbine with a more efficient Turgo turbine.
