TEKS 11Di – the student is expected to demonstrate various 
cinematography techniques by demonstrating how to frame and 
maintain picture composition. 
CAMERA ANGLES
Angle 
 The camera’s angle of view relative to 
the subject being photographed.
Bird’s-Eye View 
 A shot in which the camera 
photographs a scene from directly 
overhead.
High angle 
 A shot in which the subject is 
photographed from above.
Eye-Level shots 
 The placement of the camera 
approximately five to six feet from the 
ground, corresponding to the height of 
an observer on the scene.
Low Angle Shot 
 A shot in which the subject is 
photographed from below.
Oblique Angle 
(Tilt Shot/Dutch Angle) 
 A shot photographed by a tilted 
camera. When the image is projected 
on the screen, the subject itself seems 
to be tilted on a diagonal.
Point-of-View Shots 
 A camera shot from the perspective of 
what the subject would see.
