Ways that "creativity" is commonly used: – Persons who express unusual thoughts, who are interesting and stimulating - in short, people who appear to unusually bright. – People who experience the world in novel and original ways. Systems Model of Creativity • According to Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi creativity happens in the interaction between: – an individual, who “is” creative – a domain, in which the creative work is situated, and – a field, which judges this work as creative. • So creativity is the result of an individual working in an area (domain) whose work is considered by someone (field) as creative. • “Creativity is any act, idea, or product that changes an existing domain, or that transforms an existing domain into a new one.
