Utility Stores
• Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan was formed in 1971
• It was created by the then Prime Minister of Pakistan Zulfikar Ali
Bhutto.
• The organization have seen many ups and downs in its 40 years
history.
Objective
• The basic objective of the USC is to provide essential and
other items of daily use to the public, specially the poorer
segments of the society, at prices comparatively lower than
the market.
• It is, therefore, required to act as a price moderator and
deterrent to profiteering, hoarding and black marketing,
thereby to provide economic relief to the public.
Function
• The entire operations of USC are monitored by a Board of
Directors which periodically provides policy guidelines.
• The Secretary, Industries, Production is Chairman of the Board
of Directors. The operational activities of the USC are managed
by the Managing Director who is
• assisted by three Senior and twelve General Managers.
• It has presently sixty (60) Regional Offices which are headed by
Regional Managers and monitored / supervised by nine Zonal
Managers.
• In order to exercise better command & control and to conduct
stores operations in a disciplined and more organized manner, new
Regional Offices have been opened in main cities under the
expansion programme.
Load shading
1. Load shedding is the term used to describe the deliberate
switching off of electrical supply to parts of the electricity
network, and hence to the customers in those areas. This
practice is rare, but is a core part of the emergency
management of all electricity networks.
2. When there is a shortfall in the electricity supply, there can
be a need to reduce demand very quickly to an acceptable
level, or risk the entire electricity network becoming
unstable and shutting down completely. This is known as a
“cascade” event, and can end in a total or widespread
network shutdown affecting very large areas of a country.
Some recent examples include the blackouts in northeast
America and Canada in 2003 and across Italy in the same
year.
Disadvantage of load shedding
• Aug 28, 2012 - Now let us look at other disadvantages created by
load shedding. One another major problem in our society created
by load shedding is safety
• Dec 21, 2008 - Load shedding in Pakistan has become one of the
major issues like inflation, unemployment, child labour, suicide
bomb-blast, illiteracy and last ...
• Electricity Load Shedding in Pakistan continues even in winter 2014
even with .... disadvantages of electricity load shedding or
uninterrupted power supply of ...
ADVANTAGES OF LOAD-
• 1. You cannot watch News channels and get a chance to
realize that there are people living in the same house as you
and things actually happen in their lives too.
• 2. You find out that you have friends outside face book and
events do happen that are not posted as status updates.
• 3. You can THINK!
• 4. You realize what a long time one hour is!
• 5. You get a feel of how hot it is
Trance port
• Before the year 1945, the road transport in the provinces now
constituting PAKISTAN was exclusively run by the private bus
operators. As time ran, with the increase in number of
vehicles and quantum of traffic multiplying, the Government
of PUNJAB decided to organize the transport system on proper
footing. In 1945 the Nationalized Transport Service was
established in LAHORE to operate buses on city and intercity
routes. The Government of Sindh followed the suit as
Government Commercial Transport (GCT) was established in
1946 at HYDERABAD. The bus transport services were
gradually extended to serve the entire province. In January
1948 National Transport Service was also introduced in
N.W.F.P. In 1954, on amendment of motor Vehicle Act, 1939,
the Road Transport Boards were formed in PUNJAB, N.W.F.P.
and SINDH
