Long Term Evolution (LTE) is the next step in 3G cellular networks that provides uplink speeds up to 50 Mbps and downlink speeds up to 100 Mbps. LTE uses new technologies like Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) transmission to improve spectral efficiency and support scalable bandwidths from 1.25 MHz to 20 MHz. This white paper provides an overview of the LTE physical layer, including modulation techniques, multiple access methods, and how data is mapped to physical channels for transmission.
