Minima analyzed 103 terabytes of data from 52 sources for a company over 336 hours. It found that only 1.7% of the data was actively used, 35% had not been accessed in over 3 years, and data was growing at 57% annually which would require $5.77 million in storage costs over 5 years under the status quo. Minima recommends archiving cold data to reduce these costs by 56% and on-premises data by 59% through 2021.
