- 7. Concept Notes: A reading path is a term used by Gunther Kress in Literacy in the New Media Age (2003). According to Kress, a professor of English Education at the University of London, a reading path is the way that the text, or text plus other features, can determine or order the way that we read it.
- 8. Linear text refers to traditional text that needs to be read from beginning to the end while nonlinear text refers to text that does not need to be read from beginning to the end. As their names imply, linear texts are linear and sequential while non-linear and non-sequential.
- 9. Hypertext Nelson (1987) described hypertext as a series of a chunks connected by links that offer readers different pathways. It is non-linear or multi-linear, non- sequential and allows for the reader’s navigation control.
