Macs
I used Apple Macs to do my blogs and some simple editing. Macs are
advanced computers that would suit out editing needs, which is why
we decided to do this work on. It had most of the tools that we
needed to edit our opening easily. The use of the Macs in Year 10 and
11 grew my confidence and I had some techniques that helped within
my group. The Macs contained software such as Safari, IMovie and
Photoshop which we used a combination of to complete the film
opening. Safari was useful as it helped my group gain knowledge and
search we didn’t previously know such as tutorials on who to use the
vast commands in Photoshop. I gained knowledge on more functions
of how to use IMovie and Photoshop which I added to my previous
knowledge. Editing my film video was fun and easy as the Macs are
easy and simple to use.
SD card
We used a SD card to film and save the ‘RAW’ clips to. We
then placed it into the computer to begin editing the clips
together make a film clip. We filmed within two days we
did this so we could save one days videos on to the
computer and film the second days without the worry of
losing the clips we had already filmed. This we a good
plan and it worked because we didn’t los any of the clips.
We also didn’t have the worry of using up all the memory
on the SD card as the size we had was very big. It was
easy and convenient as we filmed all the clips we needed
on there and then transferred it in one go this saved us
time and a lot of effort.
Cameras
The video camera was the most important bit of hardware we
needed because without it we wouldn’t been able to complete the
task. The camera was Anthony Wickendens and it was a very good
camera as it gave a good HD film at the end of it. As the camera
filmed in HD the final films looks very good quality as you can see.
We knew that Anthonys camera would be better than any of our
phones so we decided we would use his camera. As Anthony was
the best camera man out of all of us we decided that he should be
the cameraman. I had next to no camera knowledge and by
watching Anthony using his I learn quite a lot about the different
functions of the camera, I am now much more confident using a
camera such as his. The camera had a lot more functions that
weren't available on our phones. Anthony was a good cameraman
and knew the type of camera shots that we should use.
Software
Photoshop
We used Photoshop to create our production
logos. I had minimal knowledge on Photoshop
and bus doing this I learnt a lot and learnt most
of the basic functions and improved my previous
knowledge. I found most functions easy to
understand and apply to my own logo. I learnt
what individual tools did such as the magic
wand tool. I learnt basic function such as the
size and shape.
IMovie
• I had a lot of previous knowledge about the
functions of iMovie. IMovie is a basic software
but very useful and did everything we wanted to.
I did however learn a few things about how to
make my use of iMovie easier and more efficient.
iMovie had a lot of fonts that were good but
didn’t fit our need so we downloaded extra fonts
from DAFONT.COM. IMovie is a basic software
but it does a lot of things that more expensive
software also do. The simplicity of the software
was useful and even for someone that hasn’t
used it before can use this.
Windows edit pro
• This is a free windows based software that was
easy to get around but didn’t have all the
functions that we needed which is why we used
both IMovie and ‘Windows Edit Pro’. The things
that we couldn’t do in iMovie we did in ‘Windows
Edit Pro’ as the combination of both gave us the
best chance to get a professional finish. This was
also a simple software to use the only downside
that we faced was that the playback was laggy
and sometime it was hardly viewable.
What I've learnt?
• This whole journey has been a success and I
have learnt much more than I originally knew.
Making the film opening was fun and
knowledgeable I learnt some basic functions
and some advanced functions for different
software's.
