Essay Gender Struggles in Doubt a Parable
Gender Struggles in Doubt: a Parable In the preface to Doubt: a Parable, John Patrick Shanley
describes a significant factor to consider when reading his play: I ve set my story in 1964, when not
just me, but the whole world seemed to be going through some kind of vast puberty (Shanley viii).
During that period in time, America experienced vast growth across all areas of life from the home, to
schools, to politics. Even the Catholic Church seemed to be embrace this time of change with the new
attitudes developed from the Second Vatican Council. The Church set out to break from the old, rigid
structures of the past and take on a more relatable and approachable presence for its surrounding
community. In spite of welcoming these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nicholas parish. She expresses respect for both her superior and the system set in place, but she
strongly considers the monsignor to be oblivious and other worldly in the extreme, even guileless to
consider a situation of the sort occurring at their school (Shanley 19, 23). Sister Aloysius is adamant
that simply following orders and reporting her suspicions to the monsignor will get nothing
accomplished. A similar situation transpired at another school, but back then she had the support of a
monsignor on whom she could count on. Sister Aloysius confides in Sister James, a younger teacher,
Here, there s no man I can go to, and men run everything. We are going to have to stop him ourselves
(Shanley 23). Knowing how the hierarchy functions and taking into consideration Monsignor Benedict
s nature, she is certain that he would just ask Father Flynn and the matter would be settled because he
would easily believe the pastor s defense. The Church hierarchy refrains Sister Aloysius from taking
the matter up to the bishop so expecting that Monsignor Benedict will not believe her suspicions, the
situation is essentially out of her hands. Nevertheless, Sister Aloysius is convinced that Father Flynn is
physically molesting the child and devises a plan to get Father Flynn to confess to his crime.
Regardless if he is innocent or guilty, Father Flynn knows very well that the male hierarchal system

475 Japanese American Internment Camps
On January 14, 1942 president Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066. This order authorized the
removement of all Japanese Americans into internment camps. One of those camps being located 30
minutes away from where I reside. It horrifies me to picture how this man could exclude and relocate
innocent people into camps simply because they were of the same race as our country s enemy at the
time. These Americans were treated with no respect, stripped from their rights, and even killed at these
camps. The name of the camp near me is Rohwer and it is located in Desha county. At least 8,475
Japanese Americans were held there and most of them were school aged children. These people did
not even get a chance to eat whatever food they pleased. Their

The Pros And Cons Of Mars Exploration Rover
It is an understatement to say that the Mars Exploration Rover mission is successful, as the findings
that were uncovered during this mission was iconic as it helped identify many unknown questions of
the planet, Mars. This mission that was carried out by the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration, otherwise known as NASA, which had employed two rovers, Spirit and Opportunity,
to travel miles around the terrain of Mars to collect the data and findings, which would then transfer it
back to Earth. This paper will discuss many challenges that the Mars Exploration Rover mission had
encountered, whilst also highlighting through the findings and data, the many breakthroughs and
achievements that had been made during the lifecycle of the project. Therefore, through analysing and
evaluating the advancements and shortcomings of this mission, we can continually make
improvements on the methods of space exploration and have a greater understanding of the past ...

In overcoming the challenges along the way of the mission from launching to impact to egress, it has
allowed scientists and organisations such as NASA to gather more information about the nature of the
Mars, from the climate to the geology of the planet. The outcome and findings of this mission has
been a success and influential in the way we explore other planets to find the possibility of past and/or
present life on that planet. The rovers had discovered fluid and other deposits on the surface of the
planet, which may indicate that life can survive on this planet. The uncovering of these physical
environments has shaped the method and processes undertaken on other missions in order to succeed
and deliver the necessary answers to the questions of the possibility of life

Adam Smith Capitalism
As the rich and privileged prospered through mercantilism, the rest of the population struggled to
make a living. Without Adam Smith s brilliance, key ideas and concepts the world today as we know it
would have never adopted the free market and capitalism as a whole. Adam Smith was born June 16th,
1723. He obtained his formal education at the University of Glasgow at the young age of fourteen.
During his time at university, he developed his passion for liberty as he attended his moral philosophy
courses. It was this new found love of liberty that created the Smith s views which entailed freedom
for all to prosper from an ever changing and evolving marketplace.
Smith is the author of the Wealth of Nations which is a book where he outlines his economic ideas,
theories and policies. The aim of the book was to explain that people can help their country
economically by helping themselves financially. As people compete in the free market they must give
a persistent effort to please all consumers this would, in turn, result in a prosperous business. Running
a business in a capitalist society is difficult because competitors are also trying to please their
consumers. This healthy competition pushes businesses to gradually develop to overthrow their
competition due to profit motives. Capitalism not only helps the economy but also the consumers and
businesses. The main concept of capitalism that disassociates its function from mercantilism is that
capitalism would be privately run

Afghanistan Argumentative Essay
The United States didn t think there was anything imperative about Afghanistan as a country, but their
location was perfect and had great surrounding areas. Afghanistan was a significant setting simply
because of the ports and sea lines that were along the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf but other than
that there wasn t much importance. The United States still ended up playing a role in the Afghan
Soviet war. They ended up being an aid for the rebels of Afghanistan. This specific group of people,
also known as the Mujahideen, were mountain tribesmen that were led by their Islamic leaders. At the
current time, the United States initial strategy was to prevent excessive Soviet influence (Galster). The

Why Is Witchcraft Important
WITCHCRAFT The first thing you need to learn about witchcraft is that it s not inherently evil. Many
modern Neopagans and Wiccans strongly resemble with this concept, and profess codes that prevent
them from performing magic on a person without their request. It is extremely powerful, extremely
dangerous, and often permanent. The concept of a magic worker influencing another person s body or
property against their will was present in many cultures, as traditions in both folk magic and religious
magic have the purpose of countering malicious magic or identifying magic users. Witchcraft of a
socially acceptable sort may then be introduced to identify the supposed evil doer so that punishment
may be carried out. Some modern commentators ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One source, pagan author Judika Illes, tells that herbs picked on Midsummer s Eve were to be most
powerful, especially if gathered on Bald Mountain near Kiev during the witches annual revels
celebration.
Using blood in magic is a pretty ancient concept, just about every culture has some kind of magic
involving it. Beliefs related to witchcraft and magic in these cultures were at times influenced by the
prevailing Western concepts. Due to the foresight of White and Burr, the Witchcraft Collection has
become a rich source for students and scholars of the history of superstition and witchcraft persecution
in Europe.
Botanicals should be gathered, During the seventeenth minute of the fourteenth hour, under a dark

introduction of a collection of trial records pieced together by Russian scholar Nikolai Novombergsk,
he argues that Muscovite authorities used the same degree of cruelty and harshness as Western
European Catholic and Protestant countries in persecuting witches. Fire. But fire can also be

Wallace and Gromit eat your heart out there s a new chick in town! Chicken Run, directed by Peter

This gives a valiant quality to the film and makes the audience feel good, too! The moment the titles
have finished, the music descends from a triumphant melody into eerie gloomy drone. Combined with
the music we are shown a crisp low angle shot of a full moon surrounded by darkness. Gradually the
camera zooms in from the sky and we see an insert shot of the barbed wire fence giving us an
impression of imprisonment. This is followed by an establishing shot of Mr. Tweedy and his dog. In
his hand he is holding a torch and patrolling the area, as they walk towards us we can hear the pitter
patter of the dog s feet. Followed by, an extreme close up of an ancient rusted padlock (obviously
keeping the fence locked). We are further focused on this as Mr. Tweedy shines his torch onto the
padlock and checks it is securely locked, as he drops the lock we hear the clank noise it makes as it
hits the fence. The focus on the lock reinforces the theme of imprisonment given previously from the
barbed wire. It is also an important element to the film as the audience has to believe that it is evil to
keep chickens locked up. The music has maintained its ominous characteristics. All these
presentational techniques have been used to create the idea that something important is imprisoned
inside the fence; thus

Posttructitalism And Postcolonialism
Although theory may have a reputation for being disconnected from reality, it is grounded in everyday
thinking that helps us plan and understand the actions we take in our everyday social lives (Sears,
2010, pp. 16 17). Accordingly, theories like poststructuralism attempt to explain these aspects of
human society. In this paper, after explaining the origins and major tenets of poststructuralism, I will
argue that a poststructural lens is most conducive to a critical analysis of the causes and effects of
oppression. I will demonstrate this by discussing how discourses produce and maintain power
relations, how the effects of these oppressive relations are channeled through a complex network of
power, and how deconstruction offers pathways for challenging oppression. Poststructuralism
Poststructuralism is derived from the theoretical work of Ferdinand de Saussure, a structural linguist
who argued that language does not simply reflect reality, but constructs the things it describes (Healy,
2005, p. 197). Poststructuralism differs from other postmodernist theories in that it is primarily
concerned with the influence of language on power, knowledge and identity (Healy, 2005, p. 197). In
contrast, postmodernism is moreover concerned with rejecting modernist truths, such as rationality
being the way to progress (Healy, 2005, p. 197). Yet another post theory, postcolonialism is focused on
interrogating and responding to the legacies of European colonization (Healy, 2005, p. 198).

Henrietta Flacks Research Paper
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Flacks tells the journey of scientific advancement in both a legal
advancement capacity as well as an ethical advancement capacity. As if what I could only imagine

to admit herself to Johns Hopkins and receive what she thought was normal medical treatment for
what ultimately turned out to be cancer of the cervix, speculated to have been caused by HPV given to
her from her abusive husband, the struggle of her ailment became unknowingly at the time the cure for

Semilunar Valves
After atrioventricular valves closure, the pressure in the ventricles continues grows rapidly. Diastolic
pressure in aorta is several times higher than in left atrium. The pressure in pulmonary artery is also
higher than in right atrium. That is why between the closure of atrioventricular valves and opening of
semilunar (aorta and pulmonary artery) some time passes, a moment, when pressure in the ventricles
rapidly grows, but without expulsion and ventricles capacity does not change. Duration of this phase is
comparable to the T1 duration. Semilunar valves open at the end of this phase. In some situations, the
opening of pathologically changed valves of aorta and pulmonary artery goes along with audible
expulsion tone (TO).
After semilunar valves opening, blood flows into aorta and pulmonary artery. Normally, this is the
fastest bloodstream during the whole cardiac cycle. For healthy people it may go along with a soft
noise, which is audible in the middle of the systole, and often slightly shifted to T1. Just like pressure
gradient, the volume of this noise grows at first, and then decreases. This is often normal. ... Show

When it gets lower, than in aorta and pulmonary artery, the semilunar valves close, which goes along
with audible second tone (T2). Important: ventricle systoles are not synchronous. They may start and
end not simultaneously. Usually it happens like that, moreover, breathing affects the duration of
ventricle systoles that is why it varies in time. When ventricle systoles do not end simultaneously, T2
splits into aortal and pulmonary components, each one which caused by the closure of corresponding
valve. Second tone components accurately mark the systolic ending time of a corresponding

Assimilation, Amalgamation, And Accommodation
With over seventy five million immigrants coming into the United States since it first became a
nation, several theories have resulted. This chapter looks at assimilation, amalgamation, and
accommodation. The values of the dominant culture includes how those in America should look,
speak, and act. However, when these standards are not met by the immigrants it becomes difficult for
them to fit in comfortably. On the other hand, diversity allows for greater possibilities and unexpected
relationships to form. First, assimilation is discussed as immigrants forming within the dominant
groups, without any differences being seen. The minority conforms to the standards of society and
leaves behind their cultural and social differences. Therefore, when it comes to physical appearance, it
does not bother the dominant group because all other aspects of them already conformed. Throughout
the eighteenth century, the English decent played a tremendous role in the developing this newly
discovered nation s culture. Although people tried to get away from this English culture during the
nineteenth century, it shortly returned and the Angelo Saxon heritage became the standard for
minorities. To persevere this standard, schools were the main influence in getting rid of cultural
differences among individuals. Cultural assimilation, as explained by Milton Gordon is one important
phase of assimilation. This is where cultural patterns of the minorities change to mirror those of the
dominant

Aeneas and Dido
Upon reading the story of Aeneas and Dido, I found myself a little surprised by the way things ended
between them. What I mean by this is although I had the understanding that the relationship (or lack
thereof) between the two of them was going to end badly, for Dido to commit suicide and pray that
Aeneas failed on his journey was a bit of a shock to me. I also found myself wondering why Aeneas
did not seem to understand that Dido was in love with him, or why Venus only worked her godly
powers on Dido and not Aeneas as well. It seems to me that while the gods have power, it s never
enough to ensure their plans go as they planned. I ve viewed Aeneas as this embodiment

Social Injustice Speech
Question: How can dancers of color prove their place in the white world of ballet? By definition,
dance is for everyone. But how come we rarely see dancers of color have the lead role or even be seen
on stage? Racial prejudice is still a social issue that impacts society today. For instance Precious
Adams was told to bleach her skin by one of her teachers while studying at the Bolshoi Ballet
Academy. Michaela Deprince overheard one of directors saying we don t put a lot of effort in the
black girls, because they end up getting fat . So how can dancers of color to show others that they are

As the inspector is looking around, she spots Adams, she steps in front of her and asks What are you
doing here? . Although skinny, Adams is different from the other ballerinas at the academy Why?,
because unlike most of her classmates Adams is black, and is about to graduate in the spring as one of
the first African American ballerinas to finish school, despite the persistent discrimination at the
academy that is used to lighter skin complexions. Why is she one of the first? Why does it not feel
normal for someone to graduate the academy as an African American? In more than two years at the
academy, Adams has been left out of performances because of the color of her skin, she says, and has
been told to try and rub the black off to make her look like what the directors want for the shows, Why
are we compelled to follow the ground rules? Why can t we choose what can be right, and what is a
good idea for a later time?
Another example is the Michaela Deprince incident where at the age the 10 years old, she thought of

Ethics In Nursing
Nursing is the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and
injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy
in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations. (ANA, 2010a, p. 1).
Exemplified within this definition is the inherent nature and breadth of nursing, a discipline grounded
in a set of values and guided by a code of ethics that reveres the sanctity of human life. Both an art and
science, it embodies an evidence based practice requiring a specialized knowledge base and skill set

On March 23rd, 1775, Patrick Henry delivered his Speech to the Virginia Convention. This speech

men at that time. Considering all of these factors, Henry uses kinds of logic and emotion that appealed

Most evictions requires a notice demanding that the tenant does something or refrains from doing
something or in the alternative vacate the house. The most common cause of eviction is failure to pay
rent. This kind of eviction requires a three day notice to pay the rent or vacate. The tenant can pay the
rent before the lapse of the three days to avoid eviction. The tenant must have defaulted payment in
order to serve the notice. The tenant can also be evicted for failure to comply or a violation of the
tenant agreement. The notice period of this type of eviction is three days and the tenant must comply
with the relevant section of the tenant agreement. The tenant can also be evicted for waste nuisance or
illegal activity. The three day notice for this type of eviction requires the tenant to have caused
substantial destruction of the house, involved in illegal activities or an arrest on the property. This
notice does not give the tenant the option to comply but requires the tenant to vacate before the end of
the notice period. There is also the 30 day notice for the termination of tenancy agreement. In this
case, Larry does not have grounds to evict Roger. The damage on drywall and the electric socket are
not substantial to issue a notice for waste. However, Larry can ask Roger to make repairs. At the end

Evolution Of The Company And The Competitive Environment
Evolution of the Company and the Competitive Environment
From the time of its founding, the Cleveland Clinic never wanted to replace family physicians. Instead
they hoped to be utilized as secondary specialists that would be used as further consults that were
beyond the scope of the family practitioner. Although this style of practicing is still used in the system
today, the Cleveland Clinic has had to overcome many challenges and has implemented many changes
in order to maintain this system. Since it s founding the organization had operated with just a Board of
Trustees. With issues rising between the older and younger generation of leaders in the organization
and the lack of a succession plan left by the original founders, it was suggested that a Medical Survey
Committee be formed. In 1954, the Medical Survey Committee drafted a report stating the issues that
the Cleveland Clinic was facing and how establishing a Board of Governors could help solve some of
the issues (Clough, 2004). Some of these issues included: the lack of a democratic process, the legal
status, the research and educational institutions needed to be strengthen, the medical needs of the
community needed to be evaluated in order to ensure that the proper services were being offered, and
the patient care needed to be improved (Clough, 2004). With these issues and suggestions in mind the
Cleveland Clinic made a new organizational plan. First, the newly formed Board of Governors would

Lord Of The Flies Wrongness
Evil is an Inborn Trait in Mankind Jeremy Griffith, an Australian biologist, once stated that humans
[are] fundamentally [either] good or bad, we learnt to avoid...the...subject so much so...that the human
condition has been described as the personal unspeakable , and as the black box inside of humans they
[cannot] go near. Is the reason for this description because humans do not want to acknowledge the
darkness lurking within? William Golding reveals what is inside that black box and exposes the reality
of the human condition through his novel, Lord of the Flies. The novel shows how the suppression of
evil becomes a difficult task without the presence of rules or punishments. As well, how fears and
temptations of one could possibly cause ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By placing blame on someone else they will benefit at the expense of another, which is considered evil
since the other will suffer the consequences while the one at fault does not. Raj Raghunathan, who has
a Ph.D., explained that there are two main reasons why one would blame others: either because it
makes one feel more confident...or because it makes one appear superior to the other person. Humans
do not want to acknowledge or take responsibility for their mistakes. By placing their faults on
someone else, they feel less guilt and feel they have power over another. In the novel Lord of the
Flies, Jack and his tribe believe that [the beast] came disguised [and that] he may come again even
though [they] gave him the head of [their] kill to eat (Golding 177). They blame the beast for Simon s
death, since the beast is supposedly using Simon as a disguise. Jack and his tribe know they are at
complete fault for his death, yet do not want to acknowledge or be responsible for their actions. They
believe that blaming the creature on the island will prove their innocence of the situation.
Furthermore, in the novel, Piggy comforts Ralph by stating that it was an accident, ... that s what is
was. An accident. His voice shrilled again. Coming in the dark he had no business crawling like that
out of the dark. He was batty. He asked for it (Golding 173). Ralph and Piggy do not blame
themselves for taking part in killing Simon because acknowledging their wrong would mean they
would have to accept the fact that they are no longer superior to Jack and his tribe. Ralph and Piggy
use blaming as a defense mechanism, allowing them to eliminate their guilt and for them to continue
to believe they are still good within, not evil. To sum up, the act of deflecting the blame off one s self
so that one is not held responsible and to also rid of their guilt to remain superior, is where the evil

Achoo Syndrome Research Paper
Have you ever sneezed two to four times or maybe 40 times when you went out for a walk, or when
you went to the picture studio to have your picture taken and just could not take a picture without
sneezing? Achoo Syndrome or Autosomal Dominant Compelling Helio Ophthalmic Outburst
Syndrome is a condition that causes uncontrollable sneezing because of bright light or intense
sunlight. Achoo Syndrome is also known as photic sneezing which means too much sunlight or too
much light can cause a person to sneeze multiple times or maybe once. This syndrome is a dominant
trait so therefore if one parent has the syndrome there is 50% chance that their child could have it too.
Achoo syndrome has not been yet evidentially or clearly researched. Scientists do not understand how
sunlight or light flashes can cause a person to sneeze, every time a person is exposed to it. Some
researchers think Achoo syndrome is caused by a malfunction in the nerve which is connected to the
trigeminal nerve, and that could be connected to the visual nerve which makes people sneeze when
exposed to direct sunlight or light. Achoo syndrome affects about 18 35% of the population in the
world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drivers and Piolets could lose control over the car and plane by sneezing. Players could miss their

could be very dangerous but there are somethings that could help prevent the syndrome. Sunglasses
and umbrellas could help prevent sneezing; also known as photic sneezing, and can bring safety to

The Importance Of America s Voting Age
American youth, the demographic most important to America s future, are often excluded from
political processes and omitted from election ballots in just about every way. It is my mission as a
Junior Statesman and a high school student to break this substandard negative trend, which tarnishes
American democracy, by encouraging youth to become more politically active.
America s voting age requirement is 18. As a result, teenagers often feel disenfranchised by the
political system, turning away from political involvement and civic engagement. Unable to participate
in the political system, shut out from the democratic process, teenagers today are just opting out,
neglecting current events until they re older and can actually make a difference,

Beowulf As A Theme Of Pride In British Literature
Pride is a major concept in British Literature. This human emotion is used in a variety of literary
works throughout British Literature. There is a certain conflict that can be seen in the written works.
Pagan culture views pride an important characteristic while Christianity sees pride as a deadly sin.
Having pride is strongly against Christian beliefs, which can be seen in British Literature but it can
also be seen that the characters in the different works have a strong sense of pride. Pride has had some
changes in the way it is portrayed in British Literature due to these two different cultures. The concept
of pride has revolutionized over the centuries. It is important for one to understand what pride means
to fully comprehend it. According ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This epic is the oldest surviving Germanic epic as well as the longest and most important poem in Old
English ( Anglo Saxon Literature ). The character, Beowulf, is a fearless warrior who fought the
deadliest monster that no other man was willing to take on. He was considered the strongest of all
warriors so he was called upon to kill the monster Grendel. Beowulf s pride can be seen when
Beowulf states my hands alone shall fight for me; struggle for life against the monster (Raffel 48).
Beowulf wanted to kill the beast with his bare hands because Grendel would not be using a sword
either. This shows how prideful he is of his strength and his capabilities of being able to kill the
monster with his bare hands. After Beowulf kills the monster Grendel, kennings describe him as the
mighty protector of men and Edgetho s brave son ( Pride in Beowulf ). Although there is pride shown
in this epic, biblical concepts are also present. In the epic, it is stated that Grendel, his mother, and
other fiends, goblins, monsters, and giants are descendants of Cain s clan, whom the Creator had
outlawed/ and condemned as outcasts (Raffel 44). The reference to Cain, son of Adam and Eve who
murdered his own brother Abel, shows how Christianity affected the literary works of the pagan
culture. The church s influence can also be seen when it is stated he [Grendel] never dared to touch
king Hrothgar s glorious throne, protected by God (Raffel 45). While the pagan culture s depiction of
pride is strongly seen in Beowulf, the influence of Christianity is also seen with the references of God
and the Bible located within the

Homosexuality Is A Way Of Living Life
Homosexuality is one the most controversial topics societies have faced and continue to face. The
beliefs of many people around the world about the nature of homosexuality, go into two patterns
called choice and gene. Is homosexuality a choice or a gene? Are we born the way we are? Or are we
shaped by the environmental factors while we grow up? The origin of homosexuality has been
discussed intensively around the world. Gay is a sexual orientation, but the fact of acting on it is a
choice. However, every person has their own views regarding this concept throughout time. Some
people believe that homosexuality is a way of living life that people choose. On the other hand, some
say that homosexuality is a gene or even worse a disease. The hypotheses that homosexuality is a
disease that can and need to be cured has been supported by multiple people around the world.
Throughout history, research, doctors and philosophers have spent time debating about the origin of
homosexuality. Edmund Bergler was one of them, an Austrian born American psychoanalyst whose
book covered such topics as childhood development, mid life crises and human behavior in general.
He was the most important theorist of homosexuality in the 1950s. In 1951, Bergler wrote
Homosexuality: Disease or Way of life to deeply explore the origin of homosexuality. In the book, he
argues that homosexuality is a disease and not a choice, an argument that I do not accept. According to
him, homosexuals are a small

Quality Management Using Six Sigma
Quality Management Using Six Sigma Over the last thirty years, the views on quality management
shifting from a focus on product inspection and problem identification to the theme that product
quality is determined by the process used to produce the product (Jayaraman, Kannabiran, Kumar,
2013; Kerzner, 2013). As a result many quality/process improvement initiatives and methodologies
have been developed over the last few decades; one such methodology is known as Six Sigma and has
become the most popular of the quality improvement initiatives (Ismyrlis Moschidis, 2013). This
paper will provide a brief overview of Six Sigma along with an explanation of the DMAIC
methodology. The paper will present an example from the author s workplace in software engineering
to illustrate effective application of the DMAIC process.
Six Sigma Overview As explained by Kumar and Kaushish (2015), Six Sigma is a disciplined data
driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects in any process (p. 7). Six Sigma stresses the
reduction of variation within processes by identifying and eliminating the root causes of defects
(Jayaraman et al., 2013; Kerzner, 2013; Kumar Kaushish, 2015). The goal of Six Sigma is to get as
close to zero defects as possible. The term Six Sigma comes from the Greek letter σ (sigma) which in
statistics represents one standard deviation (Ismyrlis Moschidis, 2013; Kumar Kaushish, 2015;
Mădălina, 2014). Six Sigma, or six standard deviations, yields a

Mountain Man Case Study
Mountain Man Brewing Company was established as a family concern in 1925 in West Virginia by
Guntar Prangle. The company brewed single product beer, Mountain Man Lager, which won best beer
in West Virginia and was elected as America s Championship Lager . Mountain Man Lager featured
quality, bitter favor and slightly higher than average alcohol content that uniquely contributed to the
company s brand equity. Mountain Man was a local market leader and distributed its lager in several
states outside West Virginia. By 2005 Mountain Man was generating over $50 million in revenue with
over 520,000 barrels of Mountain Man Lager sold. However, Mountain Man had been facing serious

As one participant in the recent focus group had spoken, My dad drank Mountain Man just like my
granddad did. It would surprise no one that alienating the customer base would be disastrous for
Mountain Man. Thus, Mountain Man should have to be careful of marketing its new products to keep
the association with the Mountain Man Lager. Chris Prangel was convinced that the light beer market
was the solution to sustain the company s market share, but embarking on this opportunity would be at
a risk without further market research. Clearly a light beer alternative would need to find a distinct
message of its own. In marketing its light beer, Mountain Man needed to build a distinct identity for
its light beer product and its light beer brand. To do so, Mountain Man needed to know who would be
the target customers. First of all, the key factor to achieve success in the light beer market is to attract
younger drinkers to buy its beverages in the light beer category. These younger drinkers have not
established loyalty to any specific brand of beer. Beer is an acquired taste for most people. Once beer
drinkers get used to the taste, they are going to have that taste cemented in their mind perpetually.
Plus, consumers were considering more health concerns about alcohol consumption. Taken together,
Mountain Man should produce a light beer with a special taste, which can draw younger drinkers
interest, and with less

Im Just A Kid Quotes
I m Just a Kid by Simple Plan This song also reflects the theme of lonlyness in this novel. Lonliness is
such a major theme throughout the book and reflects in other pieces of media, because it s so relatable
and possible something everybody would face once in their lives. Everybody can find a piece of
themselves in it. The singer takes on the perspective of a child and tells us even though he s just a kid,
he feels very alone and neglected. With the lyrics Nobody cares cause I m alone and the world is
having more fun than me tonight reflects in the book because although Holden gives off a cocky
persona, he feels like nobody is there for him when he needs them. An example of this can be seen in
chapter nine, where Holden first left Pency.

During that period in time, America experienced vast growth across all areas of life from the home, to schools, to politics. A similar situation transpired at another school, but back then she had the support of a monsignor on whom she could count on. The Church hierarchy refrains Sister Aloysius from taking the matter up to the bishop so expecting that Monsignor Benedict will not believe her suspicions, the situation is essentially out of her hands. • 5. Adam Smith Capitalism As the rich and privileged prospered through mercantilism, the rest of the population struggled to make a living. Without Adam Smith s brilliance, key ideas and concepts the world today as we know it would have never adopted the free market and capitalism as a whole. Adam Smith was born June 16th, 1723. He obtained his formal education at the University of Glasgow at the young age of fourteen. During his time at university, he developed his passion for liberty as he attended his moral philosophy courses. It was this new found love of liberty that created the Smith s views which entailed freedom for all to prosper from an ever changing and evolving marketplace. Smith is the author of the Wealth of Nations which is a book where he outlines his economic ideas, theories and policies. The aim of the book was to explain that people can help their country economically by helping themselves financially. As people compete in the free market they must give a persistent effort to please all consumers this would, in turn, result in a prosperous business. Running a business in a capitalist society is difficult because competitors are also trying to please their consumers. This healthy competition pushes businesses to gradually develop to overthrow their competition due to profit motives. Capitalism not only helps the economy but also the consumers and businesses. The main concept of capitalism that disassociates its function from mercantilism is that capitalism would be privately run ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many modern Neopagans and Wiccans strongly resemble with this concept, and profess codes that prevent them from performing magic on a person without their request. The concept of a magic worker influencing another person s body or property against their will was present in many cultures, as traditions in both folk magic and religious magic have the purpose of countering malicious magic or identifying magic users. • 9. Posttructitalism And Postcolonialism Although theory may have a reputation for being disconnected from reality, it is grounded in everyday thinking that helps us plan and understand the actions we take in our everyday social lives (Sears, 2010, pp. 16 17). Accordingly, theories like poststructuralism attempt to explain these aspects of human society. In this paper, after explaining the origins and major tenets of poststructuralism, I will argue that a poststructural lens is most conducive to a critical analysis of the causes and effects of oppression. I will demonstrate this by discussing how discourses produce and maintain power relations, how the effects of these oppressive relations are channeled through a complex network of power, and how deconstruction offers pathways for challenging oppression. Poststructuralism Poststructuralism is derived from the theoretical work of Ferdinand de Saussure, a structural linguist who argued that language does not simply reflect reality, but constructs the things it describes (Healy, 2005, p. 197). Poststructuralism differs from other postmodernist theories in that it is primarily concerned with the influence of language on power, knowledge and identity (Healy, 2005, p. 197). In contrast, postmodernism is moreover concerned with rejecting modernist truths, such as rationality being the way to progress (Healy, 2005, p. 197). Yet another post theory, postcolonialism is focused on interrogating and responding to the legacies of European colonization (Healy, 2005, p. 198). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Duration of this phase is comparable to the T1 duration. Semilunar valves open at the end of this phase. In some situations, the opening of pathologically changed valves of aorta and pulmonary artery goes along with audible expulsion tone (TO). After semilunar valves opening, blood flows into aorta and pulmonary artery. Normally, this is the fastest bloodstream during the whole cardiac cycle. • 12. Assimilation, Amalgamation, And Accommodation With over seventy five million immigrants coming into the United States since it first became a nation, several theories have resulted. This chapter looks at assimilation, amalgamation, and accommodation. The values of the dominant culture includes how those in America should look, speak, and act. However, when these standards are not met by the immigrants it becomes difficult for them to fit in comfortably. On the other hand, diversity allows for greater possibilities and unexpected relationships to form. First, assimilation is discussed as immigrants forming within the dominant groups, without any differences being seen. The minority conforms to the standards of society and leaves behind their cultural and social differences. Therefore, when it comes to physical appearance, it does not bother the dominant group because all other aspects of them already conformed. Throughout the eighteenth century, the English decent played a tremendous role in the developing this newly discovered nation s culture. Although people tried to get away from this English culture during the nineteenth century, it shortly returned and the Angelo Saxon heritage became the standard for minorities. To persevere this standard, schools were the main influence in getting rid of cultural differences among individuals. Cultural assimilation, as explained by Milton Gordon is one important phase of assimilation. This is where cultural patterns of the minorities change to mirror those of the dominant ... Raj Raghunathan, who has a Ph.D., explained that there are two main reasons why one would blame others: either because it makes one feel more confident...or because it makes one appear superior to the other person. Humans do not want to acknowledge or take responsibility for their mistakes. By placing their faults on someone else, they feel less guilt and feel they have power over another. In the novel Lord of the Flies, Jack and his tribe believe that [the beast] came disguised [and that] he may come again even though [they] gave him the head of [their] kill to eat (Golding 177). They blame the beast for Simon s death, since the beast is supposedly using Simon as a disguise. Jack and his tribe know they are at complete fault for his death, yet do not want to acknowledge or be responsible for their actions. They believe that blaming the creature on the island will prove their innocence of the situation. Furthermore, in the novel, Piggy comforts Ralph by stating that it was an accident, ... that s what is was. An accident. His voice shrilled again. Coming in the dark he had no business crawling like that out of the dark. He was batty. He asked for it (Golding 173). Ralph and Piggy do not blame themselves for taking part in killing Simon because acknowledging their wrong would mean they would have to accept the fact that they are no longer superior to Jack and his tribe. Ralph and Piggy use blaming as a defense mechanism, allowing them to eliminate their guilt and for them to continue to believe they are still good within, not evil. To sum up, the act of deflecting the blame off one s self so that one is not held responsible and to also rid of their guilt to remain superior, is where the evil trait in ... • 27. Achoo Syndrome Research Paper Have you ever sneezed two to four times or maybe 40 times when you went out for a walk, or when you went to the picture studio to have your picture taken and just could not take a picture without sneezing? Achoo Syndrome or Autosomal Dominant Compelling Helio Ophthalmic Outburst Syndrome is a condition that causes uncontrollable sneezing because of bright light or intense sunlight. Achoo Syndrome is also known as photic sneezing which means too much sunlight or too much light can cause a person to sneeze multiple times or maybe once. This syndrome is a dominant trait so therefore if one parent has the syndrome there is 50% chance that their child could have it too. Achoo syndrome has not been yet evidentially or clearly researched. Scientists do not understand how sunlight or light flashes can cause a person to sneeze, every time a person is exposed to it. Some researchers think Achoo syndrome is caused by a malfunction in the nerve which is connected to the trigeminal nerve, and that could be connected to the visual nerve which makes people sneeze when exposed to direct sunlight or light. Achoo syndrome affects about 18 35% of the population in the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Drivers and Piolets could lose control over the car and plane by sneezing. The Importance Of America s Voting Age American youth, the demographic most important to America s future, are often excluded from political processes and omitted from election ballots in just about every way. It is my mission as a Junior Statesman and a high school student to break this substandard negative trend, which tarnishes American democracy, by encouraging youth to become more politically active. America s voting age requirement is 18. As a result, teenagers often feel disenfranchised by the political system, turning away from political involvement and civic engagement. Unable to participate in the political system, shut out from the democratic process, teenagers today are just opting out, neglecting current events until they re older and can actually make a difference, ... • 30. Beowulf As A Theme Of Pride In British Literature Pride is a major concept in British Literature. This human emotion is used in a variety of literary works throughout British Literature. There is a certain conflict that can be seen in the written works. Pagan culture views pride an important characteristic while Christianity sees pride as a deadly sin. Having pride is strongly against Christian beliefs, which can be seen in British Literature but it can also be seen that the characters in the different works have a strong sense of pride. Pride has had some changes in the way it is portrayed in British Literature due to these two different cultures. The concept of pride has revolutionized over the centuries. It is important for one to understand what pride means to fully comprehend it. According ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This epic is the oldest surviving Germanic epic as well as the longest and most important poem in Old English ( Anglo Saxon Literature ). The character, Beowulf, is a fearless warrior who fought the deadliest monster that no other man was willing to take on. He was considered the strongest of all warriors so he was called upon to kill the monster Grendel. Beowulf s pride can be seen when Beowulf states my hands alone shall fight for me; struggle for life against the monster (Raffel 48). Beowulf wanted to kill the beast with his bare hands because Grendel would not be using a sword either. This shows how prideful he is of his strength and his capabilities of being able to kill the monster with his bare hands. After Beowulf kills the monster Grendel, kennings describe him as the mighty protector of men and Edgetho s brave son ( Pride in Beowulf ). Although there is pride shown in this epic, biblical concepts are also present. In the epic, it is stated that Grendel, his mother, and other fiends, goblins, monsters, and giants are descendants of Cain s clan, whom the Creator had outlawed/ and condemned as outcasts (Raffel 44). The reference to Cain, son of Adam and Eve who murdered his own brother Abel, shows how Christianity affected the literary works of the pagan culture. The church s influence can also be seen when it is stated he [Grendel] never dared to touch king Hrothgar s glorious throne, protected by God (Raffel 45). While the pagan culture s depiction of pride is strongly seen in Beowulf, the influence of Christianity is also seen with the references of God and the Bible located within the ... • 31. Homosexuality Is A Way Of Living Life Homosexuality is one the most controversial topics societies have faced and continue to face. The beliefs of many people around the world about the nature of homosexuality, go into two patterns called choice and gene. Is homosexuality a choice or a gene? Are we born the way we are? Or are we shaped by the environmental factors while we grow up? The origin of homosexuality has been discussed intensively around the world. Gay is a sexual orientation, but the fact of acting on it is a choice. However, every person has their own views regarding this concept throughout time. Some people believe that homosexuality is a way of living life that people choose. On the other hand, some say that homosexuality is a gene or even worse a disease. The hypotheses that homosexuality is a disease that can and need to be cured has been supported by multiple people around the world. Throughout history, research, doctors and philosophers have spent time debating about the origin of homosexuality. Edmund Bergler was one of them, an Austrian born American psychoanalyst whose book covered such topics as childhood development, mid life crises and human behavior in general. He was the most important theorist of homosexuality in the 1950s. In 1951, Bergler wrote Homosexuality: Disease or Way of life to deeply explore the origin of homosexuality. In the book, he argues that homosexuality is a disease and not a choice, an argument that I do not accept. According to him, homosexuals are a small ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Quality Management Using Six Sigma Quality Management Using Six Sigma Over the last thirty years, the views on quality management shifting from a focus on product inspection and problem identification to the theme that product quality is determined by the process used to produce the product (Jayaraman, Kannabiran, Kumar, 2013; Kerzner, 2013). As a result many quality/process improvement initiatives and methodologies have been developed over the last few decades; one such methodology is known as Six Sigma and has become the most popular of the quality improvement initiatives (Ismyrlis Moschidis, 2013). This paper will provide a brief overview of Six Sigma along with an explanation of the DMAIC methodology. The paper will present an example from the author s workplace in software engineering to illustrate effective application of the DMAIC process. Six Sigma Overview As explained by Kumar and Kaushish (2015), Six Sigma is a disciplined data driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects in any process (p. 7). Six Sigma stresses the reduction of variation within processes by identifying and eliminating the root causes of defects (Jayaraman et al., 2013; Kerzner, 2013; Kumar Kaushish, 2015). The goal of Six Sigma is to get as close to zero defects as possible. The term Six Sigma comes from the Greek letter σ (sigma) which in statistics represents one standard deviation (Ismyrlis Moschidis, 2013; Kumar Kaushish, 2015; Mădălina, 2014). Six Sigma, or six standard deviations, yields a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As one participant in the recent focus group had spoken, My dad drank Mountain Man just like my granddad did. It would surprise no one that alienating the customer base would be disastrous for Mountain Man. Thus, Mountain Man should have to be careful of marketing its new products to keep the association with the Mountain Man Lager. Chris Prangel was convinced that the light beer market was the solution to sustain the company s market share, but embarking on this opportunity would be at a risk without further market research. Clearly a light beer alternative would need to find a distinct message of its own. In marketing its light beer, Mountain Man needed to build a distinct identity for its light beer product and its light beer brand. To do so, Mountain Man needed to know who would be the target customers. First of all, the key factor to achieve success in the light beer market is to attract younger drinkers to buy its beverages in the light beer category. These younger drinkers have not established loyalty to any specific brand of beer. Beer is an acquired taste for most people. Once beer drinkers get used to the taste, they are going to have that taste cemented in their mind perpetually. Plus, consumers were considering more health concerns about alcohol consumption. Taken together, Mountain Man should produce a light beer with a special taste, which can draw younger drinkers interest, and with less ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
