BLUE WATER SPORTS CLUB Glen Ivy, California                                                                                                                                     The Blue Water Sports Club is a fitness club built to support a 1,200 home community. The goal of the project was to provide a fitness/wellness facility to the surrounding community and at the same time, take into account the natural features that make up the area. The building and site are located on the border of the Cleveland National Forest at the base of Anderson Canyon, creating exceptional views of the surrounding environment. The Cardio/Fitness Room was curved and placed on the second floor to take full advantage of the full depth canyon views, pool deck and championship tennis courts. Sloping shed roofs maximize view angles from the indoor pool, running track, and fitness equipment area. Other fitness club amenities include a wellness room, massage room, fitness equipment facility, juice bar, outdoor resort, pool and spa, locker/shower area, meeting rooms and second floor terrace.

CATTA VERDERA COUNTRY CLUB Lincoln, California                                                                                                                                     This 30,000 sf clubhouse was designed to take in the breathtaking views of the Catta Verdera Golf Course. The facility has a banquet room which seats 200, a member's lounge with a bar, a fine dining room and pro shop. The second floor  houses locker rooms for members. The special events facility (formerly referred to as the Bunkhouse) was designed for smaller gatherings on the same compound as the Gold Club. In the future, fitness facility and pool will be added to the amenities. Catta Verdera Country Club is reminiscent of the old-world charm of the Spanish Colonial style of architecture. From its rich wood doors and windows, to its arcade of arches and authentic wrought iron light fixtures, it captures another period in history, yet is appointed with the contemporary amenities expected of a private Golf Club today.

LA QUINTA GOLF CLUBHOUSE La Quinta, California                                                                                                                                     The Santa Rosa Club is a two level, +/- 21,000 sf steel frame community clubhouse that continues a lineage of “Desert Modernism” that flourished in the Palm Springs area in the 1930’s by architects such as Albert Frey and Richard Neutra. As the de facto town center of this community, the program for the clubhouse was developed to provide the broadest spectrum of activities and uses to promote the most interaction of the community’s residents. Educational spaces include a multi-purpose learning center with a computer technology lab and an arts and crafts room. Social spaces include a grand living room, a cyber café, a mail center, a billiards room and a banquet facility capable of accommodating 180 guests. Recreational amenities include an aerobics room, a fitness equipment area, an indoor running track, a lap pool, a play pool, and men’s and women’s lockers/showers.

PLACER COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT RESOURCE CENTER Auburn, California                                                                                                                                     The two-story, 97,400 SF Placer County Community Development Resource Center houses a variety of County departments. The design of the building focuses on functionality for the users and the flexibility of the space for the lifetime of the building. Programming for the needs of employees from several agencies with a wide variety of job duties was a major component of our planning process. Sustainable design considerations were a major determinant in the design of this facility. The implementation of energy conserving features in all facets of the building’s construction and operation resulted in a building that exceeds California’s Title 24 Energy Efficiency Standards by 44%. Building orientation and configuration respond to solar impact while also preserving existing mature trees on the site.

The Promenade resides in close proximity to the California State University Merced Campus and offers a unique and eclectic architectural style. The Promenade presents an understated, yet sophisticated appeal with its embellished outdoor plazas ideal for gathering and dining, as well as an abundance of shade trees, planted to combat the hot summers. Enhanced pedestrian parkways wrap around and facilitate shopping around defined walkways and plantings.

REDMOND RIDGE GOLF CLUBHOUSE Redmond, Washington                                                                                                                                     Residing amongst towering cedar and fir trees, this state-of-the-art golf clubhouse houses a golf shop, bar & grill and is located over a semi-subterranean golf cart storage area. Obstacles included accommodating separate golf shop and bar/grill entrances, locating the starter in a position to visually control Hole #1, maximizing views of Hole #9 from the dining room and ensuring that service to areas such as the bar/grill kitchen were placed to avoid conflict with the golfers experience. The architectural design was inspired by the continuing tradition of a structurally honest, formalistically straightforward Pacific Northwest expression, reflecting the climate and availability of indigenous building materials.

YOCHA-DE-HE GOLF CLUB Brooks, California                                                                                                                                      The Yocha-De-He Golf Club is located in the Capay Valley Region of the Central Valley of California. It sits at the foot of a hill elevated above an 18 hole Golf Course resting within a narrow river valley formed by Cache Creek. It is a two story structure comprised of 17,951 sf with one story above and one story below ground level.  This facility has been designed to compliment the natural environments and golf experience. Its floor plan enables Cache Creek Casino Resort to host a variety of events in size and scope while providing their guest with a memorable experience. Some of the buildings program components include a public and private dinning area, a bar and lounge, Pro Shop, bathing facilities, Entry courtyard & pre-function space, and exterior event terraces.  Energy and water conservation, efficient use of resources and materials, healthy indoor air quality and day lit spaces with access to views are all key elements in the teams pursuit of LEED certification.

WHOLE FOODS MARKET Sacramento, California                                                                                                                                     This renovation of a supermarket within an existing retail center consists of 37,000 sf of retail and storage space with its primary focus to provide high quality natural foods and great personal service. Its architecture strives to create a highly enjoyable and memorable shopping experience. The facility consists of an exterior lunch patio, cooking education center, on-site gourmet prepared foods, a fine wine section, a fresh produce section and a wonderful seafood and butcher shop. In the renovation of the existing market, we wanted to create a memorable shopping experience while revitalizing the existing neighborhood center. In order to accomplish this we had to overcome several challenges. The design of this project had to be dramatic yet inviting and convey to the shopper a sense of awe while welcoming them into the market and offering them many delightful experiences. The design team developed this drama by anchoring a spacious gable between two entry towers. This heavy timber structure reaches for the sky while providing a covered dining patio where a shopper can relax with their meal and peruse through fresh produce.

IRONSTONE BANK Roseville, California                                                                                                                                     This branch bank office is located in front of an existing office complex occupying a prominent location on an elevated site on a busy corridor. While the design responds to the exiting office complex in respect to materials and finishes, it still maintains a distinctive look. Exterior construction is of aluminum panel wall system, store front and stone veneer. The stone was used on the corners to help establish prominence. The clear story was used to provide natural light into the bank lobby and provide a sense of grandeur once inside the lobby. The horizontal and vertical elements were used for solar control for the offices that flank the main lobby. The project is also framed by two large fountains that are on the main street level.
