This paper presents a modified distance regularized level set (DRLS) model for liver segmentation in CT images, which introduces new balloon forces to improve the contour evolution process in areas with weak or absent edges. The experimental results indicate that this approach yields satisfactory segmentation outcomes and is more effective in handling over-segmentation issues compared to the original DRLS model. Additionally, the paper outlines a comprehensive methodology for processing and segmenting liver images, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
