Cultural Change Of The Vietnam War
As America was fighting a war for freedom in another country, unruly teens were fighting their own at
home. Cultural change, the explosion of free love, youthful rebellion, and a new liberal mindset all
seemed to have one underlying device in common; drug use. The late 1960 s into the early and mid 70
s found the perfect environment for recreational drug use. Music and arts celebrated this lifestyle, as
well as free thinkers and their idiotic philosophies about spiritual elation through mind altering
narcotics. Lack of family structure with so many homes transformed by the Vietnam War also left
young teens without guidance, and an economy with little to offer to the up and coming generation. As
the next few years passed and the free love generation began to grasp the concept of working for a
living, showering on a regular basis, love with commitment (or antibiotics), and cultural change
through policy, they brought to the workforce a new dynamic not previously prevalent. Recreational
drug use had become part of society. Vietnam War veterans also brought their own demons home with
their return, opiate addictions were a common occurrence (Carson 2012).
This new dynamic was seen initially in 1971 by the National Household Survey on Drug Abuse
(NHSDA) spearheaded by the Office of National Drug Control Policy. The survey indicated that many
illegal drug users were employed full or part time. The initial survey was used to try and understand
the scope of the problem,

Cultural Relativism And Its Impact On Society Essay
Though cultural relativism initially appears to be a logical conclusion for the diametrically opposed
cultures of various countries existing on earth, it does not consider the possibility of quantifying
specific aspects of society, culture, and an individual s life to create an objective comparison between
cultures. It also does not entertain the possibility of observing that, while there are ideological
dissimilarities interspersed throughout the earth, some political, cultural, or religious ideologies result
in an increased quality of life for those who are constituents of a certain society.
A fundamental aspect of cultural relativism is the recognition of deviation from the observer s own
cultural and societal emphasis, and accepting that ideas are not inherently good or bad , but instead
exist in some infallible category defined as different . This creates a self perpetuating cycle that leads
to lack of reformation derived from the desire to maintain the façade of thoughtfulness and acceptance
regarding all cultures. Whilst universal morality is a contentious topic, and for the purpose of this
argument we shall assume it does not exist (due to the existence of such leading to a quantifiable
methodology of assessing cultures moral integrity, which would make this entire argument of cultural
relativism redundant), there is the conceptualization of innate, ubiquitous desires of humanity such as
personal freedom and perceived equality in terms of social status (1).

The Buddhist Temple That Has Created Disagreement Among...
Borobudur located on the island of Java is a Buddhist temple that has created disagreement among the
academic community. There are two schools of thought in which scholars such as art historians and
archeologist debate about what the real significance and purpose of Borobudur is about. For example,
a group of scholars argues that Borobudur is stupa. This contrasts the other scholars who contends that
Borobudur is a mandala. Although both groups of scholars adequately analyze Borobudur and provide
evidence to support their arguments, the argument that the Buddhist temple is both a mandala and
stupa is rational. In this paper, I will present evidence from both sides of the argument, in which
Borobudur has ignited copious amounts of controversy for in the scholarly communities. However, at
the end, I will argue that I disagree with both schools of thought because Borobudur is actually both a
stupa and a mandala.
A stupa is a mound like circular structure that contains the relics of a Buddha. Buddhist frequently
participate in pilgrimages to stupas because of worship opportunities. Although Buddhist architects
built Borobudur in the 9th century, but academics do not know what the original purposes of what the
structure was constructed for. However, though visual and architectural evidence many academics
believe that Borobudur is a stupa. While traditionally, a structure, like a stupa consists of one focalized
and central grand stupa: Borobudur does not; the temple is composed

Intellect Vs Test Scores Essay
Intellect VS. Test Scores
Growing up, I never really had a problem with tests. I didn t necessarily enjoy taking them, however I
thankfully never got too apprehensive. I looked at them as a way to determine my intelligence, and
would gladly share my scores both good and bad with my peers. Looking back on my perception of
tests, I find that my point of view was ignorant to the fact that test scores whether they are
standardized or not do not determine a person s intellect. In the state of North Carolina, students take
their first standardized test in third the grade. Commonly known as the End of Grade test (EOG), its
purpose is to ...measure student performance on the goals, objectives, and grade level competencies
specified in the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. In layman s terms, this test is simply to see
if the student has met all of the requirements, and is fit to advance to the next grade level. A variety of
standardized tests are given every year until the student graduates high school. High school students
particularly, tend to be the most apprehensive when it comes to test taking because it has been taught

While many students put most of their energy into acing standardized tests, in reality, grades and the
rigor of a student s curriculum are the most important factors in a college application. That being said,
how you perform day to day in and out of the classroom over the course of your four high school
years, is much more important than how you performed for an early Saturday morning test. The fact
that the student could have been up all night, the night before the SAT trying to get in some last

taken into consideration! I m not justifying the fact, however I am saying that test administrators, and

Vladimir Lenin And The Russian Revolution
Vladimir Lenin was the leader of the Russian revolution. Lenin s reason for writing State and
Revolution was to explain his view on Karl Marx s reasoning for a state and views on what the
proletariat, working class, should do during a revolution. The goal of a revolution such as this, a
communist revolution, is to give the power to the working people, which is to say that Lenin, similar
to Castro and Nkrumah, wants to be free from imperialism. Another is to Lenin s view on revolution is
that it can only be achieved through nationality and unity.(Lenin, State and Revolution, page 22) The
overthrow of bourgeois rule can be accomplished only by the proletariat, as the particular class, which,
by the economic conditions of its existence, is being prepared for this work and is provided both with
the opportunity and the power to perform it. (Lenin 23) He believes that a revolution can only succeed
with the use of violence from the proletariat against the party that is in control.(Lenin, 22 23) The
replacement of the bourgeois by the proletarian state is impossible without a violent revolution.
(Lenin, 22) As a leader Lenin is an advocate of change. He is a communist and believes in giving
power to the people, mainly the proletariat.(Lenin 20) Kwame Nkrumah, was the leader of Ghana first
as Prime Minister then as President once they gained independence from Great Britain. Nkrumah

Specific Heat Lab
This experiment is an attempt to determine the specific heat of a metal object. The experiment is
conducted by first placing two Styrofoam cups inside each other creating a makeshift calorimeter;
then filling said calorimeter with ice water measured at zero ° Celsius. Next, a metal object with a
mass of 30 grams or more is heated for five minutes in boiling water. After reaching the proper
temperature of 100 ° Celsius, the metal is placed in the water. The water is stirred and the temperature
is periodically read. These data points are recorded by the student to use current chemical formulas to
discover the specific heat of the metal used in the experiment.
Out of the three classifications on the periodic table metals, nonmetals, and metalloids metals is the
most prominent (Encyclopedia Britannica). Taking up 91 of the 118 elements on the periodic table,
metals are usually lustrous, good conductors, have a high melting point, are highly dense, malleable,

The specific heat capacity of an object is determined by finding the amount of energy required to
change the temperature of a unit of mass by a temperature change of one degree (The Physics
Classroom); quite important in discovering the varied heat capacities of different metals. Interestingly,
the temperature change in an object is related to the amount of heat the substance absorbs or releases
by the following equation: q=mcΔT (Wile). Where m stands for the mass of the object, q is equal to
the amount of energy released or absorbed. As well as the specific heat of the object being shown by c

Special Considerations for Branch Office Deployments
Microsoft has identified a number of special considerations for deploying Active Directory in branch
office environments. The characteristics of a branch office environment include:
• A large number of physical locations that need to contain replicas of Active Directory data. • A
small number of users per location. • A hub and spoke network topology where many branch offices
rely on connectivity to a centralized hub site for communications to other parts of the organization. •
Slow network connectivity between the branch office locations and the hub site.
Because of the ramifications of these requirements, Microsoft has developed additional content
focused on deploying Active Directory in branch office environments. The Active Directory Branch
Office Planning Guide is available on line at

Essay on Review We Have No Right to Happiness
Review on We have No Right to Happiness
By: C.S. Lewis
In class we read three different essays including The Dying family by J.H. Plumb, Does Fatherhood
Make You Happy? By Daniel Gilbert, and We Have No Right to Happiness by C.S. Lewis. Though the
purpose of these essays can be very controversial to some, after reviewing all three essays I have
picked my favorite, or the one I agree with and disagree with most. We have no Right to Happiness
makes a very good argument on the point the author is trying to make. Some people believe that
happiness is a right and is supposed to be given out, or is required to be provided by the government,
like a right. In all reality that is true, but to an extent, we do have a right to ... Show more content on

But there still is their pursuit of happiness. Guaranteed your parents social status was not just given to
them, nor will yours, your parents open that door for you to pursue your happiness. I guess whether
you agree on this point or not would have something to do with where you come from or what you
have been provided with up until this point, in which ever case government is not required to make
you happy as an individual. I believe government already helps out people too much already, even if
there not as deserving or willing to work for it. Though the right to happiness is chiefly claimed for
the sexual impulse, it seems to me impossible that the matter should stay there Lewis said. Sexual
happiness is on a whole different aspect. It s probably not in your best interest to act on every sexual
related impulse you have to make you happy. Although you are entitled too, sexually fulfilling your
happiness is not true happiness, it seems to be very superficial. In this case, leaving your wife to marry
another isn t ideal, on the other hand to some it would be. Overall, although these situations arise, it is
probably not in your best well being to depend on them. Life is short. I wouldn t blame you for trying
to make it a good one but depending on it will only set you up for

Buzz Marketing As A Viral Marketing Tool
Buzz marketing is a viral marketing tactic that is the interaction of consumers focused on maximizing
the word of mouth potential of a particular campaign, product or service, exaggerating or sometimes
modifying the original message. The emotion, excitement and brand facts are transmitted through
conversations between consumers friends, family or the mass audience through word of mouth and
use of social media platforms. (Rouse)
Buzz marketing is a different approach to marketing than the traditional marketing strategies with use
of radio, out of home, print or television. Traditional mass marketing entails advertising to the mass
market with a goal of converting a portion of those consumers to a brand. Buzz marketing is all about
word of mouth, and leverages, not simply the power of the trendsetter, but also the power of wanting
to be the trendsetter . (Walker,2004). Marketers activate buzz marketing as an effective, perceived
unbiased message to gain trust and loyalty among consumers. Tremor feels that buzz marketing is the
most effective way for a message to travel through networks of real people communicating with
others. (Walker, 2004). The early starters that are originally targeted by marketers are the key to the
message traveling from their internal circle to eventually penetrating the mass market. Word of mouth
is not just successful when communication occurs between friends and family members, but
acquaintances as well. To crate buzz marketers target

In addition, I have enjoyed learning the business canvas model elements and applying them to the
scholarly articles. In the beginning the process was overwhelming, but I ve learned to enjoy the
readings and gain the necessary information through deconstruction and meal plan process.
Furthermore, I continue to learn to effectively and efficiently synthesis my findings and relate them to
the company information. However, it difficult not to go off topic when the information is truly
interesting. In addition, researching and learning about the different companies has been very
interesting and applying the different aspects of business is helping me understand the various
business models and the decisions companies make in relation to areas of business like strategies,
CSR, knowledge management, and value propositions. Another area of concentration is continue
learning and developing the use and application of APA format. Often, I get caught up in the
deconstruction, synthesizing, applying MEAL that I fall short on APA format for, example, citations.
In addition, I get confused by some of the APA applications. Thus, I realize that focusing on APA is
imperative moving forward. I will have to go back and utilize the resources available to me in this
area.

What were the causes and consequences of the Spanish civil war?
The Spanish Civil War had been majorly caused by a series of long term events and short term events
which had contributed to its outbreak in July 17th, 1936. The consequences of the Spanish Civil War
may be divided in terms of its effect on Spain and its effect upon the rest of the world. Paul Preston
argues that the war had been influenced by a series of events, which had built up until the final
eruption of the war in 1936. Preston argues that the social tension in Spain during the 19th and early
20th century had contributed to the outbreak of the war. The differences between the Socialists,

On the 17th and 18th of July the plotting generals seized garrisons in Morocco and Las Palmas. The
civil war had now begun.
The Spanish Civil War had led to terrible consequences for the Spanish people. Historians are in
agreement that foreign contemporaries often misunderstood the civil war as a battle between
democracy ad fascism, when in reality; it had been a complex chapter in Spain’s history. The
social consequences for Spain had been atrocious. The civil war had led to 325,000 deaths overall. At
the end of the war almost half a million Spaniards were forced into exile. Spain also lost come of its
greatest political leaders as Azana and Largo and some of its most symbolic and beautiful voices â€
Lorca. Furthermore, the war had brought terror to the Spanish people. For example, in Malaga, the
terror had been inflicted on the Spanish people by their own people. Although arguable, the Condor
Legion of Germany had committed the greatest acts of terror in 1939. The Condor Legion bombed the
Basque town of Guernica on the 26th of April 1937. The bombing raid took place for three and a half
hours, without any pauses, and left the town completely destroyed. For Spain the effects of the terror
was to strengthen the position of the nationalists. Franco had leant from his days in Africa that loyalty
can be installed without fear.
Politically, Spanish society was polarized by the war. The war resulted in a nationalist

The Mystery Of The Lost Colony Of Roanoke
The mystery of the Lost Colony of Roanoke is a puzzling mystery about what happened to the first
English settlers in America. The question is, what actually happened to them, because even with
evidence and research no one knows for absolute certain what actually did happen. The disappearance
of an entire colony, who left behind a dismantled settlement and the word Croatoan etched into a tree
has stumped many archaeologists. Countless theories have arisen, some more outrageous than the rest.
Were they killed by Indians? Taken by aliens? Abducted? Sabotaged? The mystery of the Lost Colony
of Roanoke has an abundance of theories, but the most plausible is that the colonist were assimilated
into the Lumbee tribe. Colonists arrived on Roanoke Island in 1587, with the hopes of becoming the
first English colony in America (Bernstein 2:55). The colony was to be governed by John White and
was composed of English families who wished to make a new home for themselves, among the
colonists was John White s daughter, Virginia Dare. Several months later the colony s governor sailed
back to England for supplies. The shortage of supplies was due to skirmishes with the Natives, loss of
supplies due to storms, and with the time for planting over the colonists had no way to find enough
food. John White promised to return as quickly as possible, but due to unforeseen circumstances was

First of all, biting the dust means that someone dies. There is no direct evidence to the number of
casualties the Dust Bowl, but the number is probably around 7,000. Another reason this song relates to
the Dust Bowl is the lyrics, another one bites the dust. Many people suffered internal damage,
especially in their lungs, by the dust particles. Dust Pneumonia was caused by breathing in the dust
filled air. The dust kept building up over time, causing problems internally. The problem was so bad
that the Red Cross started handing out filters to keep the dust out. The last thing in the song that
relates to the Dust Bowl is the lyrics You took me for everything that I had and kicked me out on my
own. The dust bowl took everything from farmers like their crops, belongings, and fertile land. Also,
many people left their homes. Many people ditched Oklahoma for California, and they were called
Okies. Okies took jobs and settled in Californian s homes. These times were justified by these lyrics:

Forensic Evidence From A Crime Scene
Procedures used to examine and recover forensic evidence from a crime scene.
There are many different procedures in Forensic Science which are used to gather evidence from
crime scenes, all of which vary due to no crime scene being identical. Examining the evidence from a
crime scene is essential and a very important factor of Forensic Science. The evidence gathered from a
crime scene will provide facts and piece together information regarding the crime committed, this
information is then used to form a case and debate what happened at the crime scene. Once all the
information is gathered and the facts are established, the case is then presented to a court of justice to
prove or disprove any facts and evidence.
Usually there are many steps when examining and recovering forensic evidence for a crime scene and
these are as follow.
Planning to examine a crime scene
When planning to examine a crime scene all aspects should be taken into account before entering. The
first thing that should happen is cordoning off the crime scene, this is predominately performed by the
police and is done so to ensure the crime scene is not contaminated by public access. Once the scene is
secure access is restricted to the police and forensic team. When planning to examine a crime scene
key information should be available which will help identify the location, area and what type of crime
has been committed. This information will enable the forensic team to competently perform a rigorous
examination

Sigmund Freud s Interpretation Of Dreams
While most people do not give a second thought to the reasons why human sleep or about what their
dreams mean, a great deal of psychologist dedicate their lives to studying sleep and dreams. In this
paper, I will discuss the reasons for sleeping, the stages of sleep, and theirs abut dream and their
interpretation. I will also provide an analysis of my own sleep pattern and dream through the data I
have collected in my dream log.
First, let s review some reasons why people need sleep. People need sleep for multiple reasons. The
general reason is that sleep helps our physical and mental help. It does this by resorting our body
tissues, encouraging body growth, and increasing our immune system. It also helps to keep our mind
sharp, enhance our moods, and helping learning and memory (Pastorino Doyle Portillo, 2013, p. 4 1a).
There are five stages or sleep, the four stages of Non rem sleep and the single stage of Rem Sleep.

One of the most well known theories is Sigmund Freud s Interpretation of Dreams. Freud thought that
we convey our fears during our dream, as well as our aggressive and sexual desires, through symbols
that personify our unconscious desires. Another theory is the threat simulation theory (TST). This
theory suggests that dreaming is a biological defense mechanism and hat through our dream we can
experience possibly threating situation so that we can practice our actions during these situations.
However not all a have survival themes. The activation synthesis theory is a theory that proposes that
dreaming is merely a consequences of the extremely active brain during REM sleep. During REM
sleep, random neural impulses are created. According to this theory, the brain tries to establish
meaning out of these impulses by blending them into familiar stories or images based on our
memories, and that they have no underlying meaning (Pastorino Doyle Portillo, 2013, p.

Transitioning From An Undergraduate Level Course
Transitioning from an undergraduate level course to a graduate level at Kutztown University can be
extremely overwhelming for many students. From enrolling in challenging courses that prompt
students to over succeed in materials, to professors enforcing and enabling students to perform certain
aspects and or skills can be extremely overbearing and difficult at times. Nonetheless, within each
course subject the outcomes are substantial and rewarding, for each student accomplishes a new asset
that will only supplement them in their future field of study. As for my personal learning experience
within my first semester graduate course I believe I have not only gained a sustainable amount of
information, but also a better understanding in the field of mental health counseling. In particular,
from my first semester I believe my fundamentals course not only gave me a new insight within the
field but also a hands on experience by encouraging and embarking me into the counseling process. In

which entitled me as a unit counselor for a Girl Scout day camp. During these two experiences I was

Introductory Microeconomics
Module Title: Introductory Microeconomics Question 1: The economic rationale for road pricing is
compelling , Institute for Fiscal Studies, May 2012. Critically discuss this statement. The Institute
for Fiscal Reports has recommended a move for widespread system of the road pricing. As the topic
says The economic rationale for road pricing is compelling and the revenues generated through road
pricing could be used for reducing other motoring taxes. The relevant microeconomics theory, the key
factors involved and supportive analysis through diagrams is explained in the following paragraphs.
The IFS argues that there is a compelling case for making a switch from motoring taxes to a system of
national road pricing. Such a shift would be highly controversial, could be used to encourage drivers
to avoid busiest times and routes by varying the amount charged for making journeys (Morris 2012).
The IFS has released several factors that will get involved once the road pricing will be introduced.
The amount collected from road tax and fuel duties will decline in the next 15 to 20 years; this is
because more fuel efficient cars would have been introduced. The fuel duties will increase from 23%
to 50% and they will not be particularly palatable. Once the tax will be raised, the road use will be
more sustainable. Annually the distance travelled in the entire Britain is 321 billion miles. The IFS has
released a forecast that it will increase to 396 billion in the next 18

Looking for Alaska

Looking for Alaska The main theme in John Green s novel Looking for Alaska is that there is more to
life than can be experienced through any one person or experience, and that we will never truly
understand everything that happens to us or the ones we love. We just have to accept these things,
whether they be good or bad, and hope for the best. The novel is written in first person perspective,
through the eyes of the main character. His name is Miles Halter, and he is a seventeen year old boy
living in Florida. He doesn t have any real friends, only the people he sits with while eating lunch at
school. One of his hobbies is reading the last pages of biographies of random famous ... Show more

He really becomes much more of a three dimensional character. His entire outlook on life totally
changes. In this section of the story Pudge becomes obsessed with finding out if Alaska killed herself,
or if it was just a freak accident. The Colonel and him spend a good amount of time doing some
serious detective work, attempting to understand what exactly went through her mind right before she
died. Eventually though, The Colonel gets bored playing detective, and he soon stops trying to help.
Pudge, however, keeps on with the investigation, perhaps bordering on the brink of insanity with his
need to fully understand Alaska. He feels as though it s his fault that he didn t understand what was
happening sooner, and that if he figures out what pushed her to this point it will make up for his
ignorance. To really prove the kind of person that Pudge became after Alaska s death, I am going to
include the last portion of the novel. It is an essay written by Pudge for his religious studies course.
The student could pick any question that they wanted, and they attempted to dissect it and come up
with a theological answer. I feel that even though it s the last part of the novel, it s where everything
really comes together emotionally.
Before I got here, I thought for a long time that the way out of the labyrinth was to pretend that it did
not exist, to build a small, self sufficient world in a back corner of the endless

An Effective Disaster Management System Essay
This exploration, is aimed to develop an effective disaster management system that can be used

very important to be quick at providing the medical care needed in the fastest way possible. There are

From the view of an emergency response system, it is most important to find the shortest path from
rescue sites to disaster areas through a road network. In order to take prompt actions, it s important to
construct an appropriate transportation network. This is where graph theory comes in.
Graphs are defined by a set of vertices and a set of edges, where each edge connects two of its
vertices. For the example below, each of the dots is a vertex, while each of the lines is an edge.
Often, the vertices and edges are labelled with letters, for example {v1, v2, v3,...,vn} for n number of
vertices and {e1, e2, e3,...,em} for m number of edges. The example graph shown above after
labelling would look something like this:
It should be known that because the graph is an undirected graph (i.e. there is no restriction to the
direction of the edges), it is represented by an unordered pair rather than an ordered pair. That means
the two edges (e1, e2) and (e2, e1) are the same. However,

Julio Cortázar Push The Boundaries Of Reality And Reality
The concept of unreality can be defined as something that is unreal, invalid, imaginary, or illusory:
(Dictionary.com). At one time or another we have all fantasized about different things. However, have
any of us ever attempted to incorporate those fantasies into the real world? The following paper will
attempt to analyse how narratives of Julio Cortázar push the boundaries of reality and unreality. This
essay will focus on the works of Cortázar and will particularly focus on two of his stories Las babas
del diablo and Queremos tanto a Glenda. It will discuss how these narratives tests the boundaries of
unreality and reality and will analyse Cortázars ability to make his readers question what is real and
what is not. This essay will focus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s fair to say that both narratives show how Cortázar tests the boundaries of unreality and reality.
However, Cortázar took alternative approaches in order to present this in the respective stories. In the
case of Las babas del diablo, Cortázar introduced a first and third person narration into the story. The
introduction of a third person narrator highlighted the inner turmoil that Michel was experiencing, thus
forcing the reader to question his reliability as a narrator. As readers we were unable to trust Michel s
version of events yet, we were still unable to completely disregard it as it was clear he had a traumatic
experience in relation to the photograph. This is how Cortázar was able to test the boundaries of
unreality and reality, by leaving his readers in a state of utter confusion. In a completely different, but
equally effective way, Cortázar also expertly tested the boundaries of unreality and reality in
Queremos tanto a Glenda. Unlike Las babas del diablo there was no clever use of two different
narrations in order to confuse the reader. Instead Cortázar presented us with a very real idea (an
appreciation for a celebrity) and exaggerated it to massive proportions. Although the events from
Queremos tanto a Glenda seem unlikely to happen in the real world, there is a

Knee Joint Research Paper
The Knee Joint (tibiofemoral joint) is a bicondylar synovial joint named a hinge joint, which permits
flexion and extension with a slight degree of medial and lateral rotation. The joint is formed by the
two articulations between the femur, tibia and patella. The joint consists of two articulations. The
Tibiofemoral, which is, the medial and lateral condyles of the femur that articulate with the tibial
condyles. The second being the Patellofemoral, which is, the anterior and distal section of the femur
which articulates with the patella. The tibiofemoral joint is referred to as the weight bearing joint of
the knee. Whereas the patellofemoral joint allows for the tendon of the quadriceps femoris (the
primary extensor of the knee) to be directly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The knee has two collateral ligaments, which are strap like ligaments, that stabilises the hinge motion
of the knee to prevent excess medial and lateral movement. The Tibial (medial) collateral ligament
originates on the medial side of the joint. It attaches to the medial side of the tibia to prevent forces
applied to the lateral side of the knee from moving the knee medially. The Fibular (lateral) ligament is
a thin and rounder ligament that attaches laterally to the epicondyle of the femur to the fibular head.
The knee joint has two internal ligaments, the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments which
contribute to maintain the proper alignment of the knee. The anterior cruciate ligament attaches to the
anterior intercondylar region of the tibia where it mergers with the medial meniscus. Posterior cruciate
ligament (PCL), located behind the ACL, which extends obliquely from the surface of the medial
condyle of the femur to the posterior intercondylar space of the tibia. The PCL prevents the posterior
dislocation of the tibia onto the femur. The medial and lateral menisci are fibrocartilage structures in
the knee that, protect and cushion the joint surface and bone ends and increases stability of the joint.
They are C shaped in appearance and attach at both ends of the intercondylar

Operations Management has evolved over many years and is now considered a critical function in any
business, as supported by J.R Meredith, operations is critical to success in today s economy ( P35,
Meredith 1992). Businesses need to have faster production, cheaper prices, better quality products and

An operations manager that has no strategy or tactics to be the most effective and efficient they can
be, will just fail in any line of business today. There has to be strategy and tactics applied to the 5
basic Performance objectives (Slack et al, 2010 p40) as examples here we can compare between
Nestle and Heathrow. Both highly successful businesses in their industries and truly lead the way in
operations control and management. Both companies are likely to want to achieve similar goals of
customer satisfaction and to remain competitive in their arena, let s look at the kind of things that they
do to achieve their performance objectives based around Slacks ideas.
First of all let s look at the process for both businesses on a simple scale as I see it.
So what is involved at each stage and how does the operations manager ensure that the objectives of
the business are being met.
Quality Wanting to get things right for the customer, no errors.
Heathrow need to ensure that passengers have a smooth run from arrival to departure but also then that
the airplanes are able to run on time and limit delays. Buses run from the car parks regularly to get
passengers transported easily to the terminal where they will check in, go through passport control and

Unilateralist Foreign Policy Analysis
Firstly, it s vital to be familiar with that U.S. pursues a unilateralist foreign policy since post WWII.
The U.S. has an interest of maintaining geopolitical stability is predicated on its being a superpower
with global economic interests. The U.S. aims to act unilaterally by maintaining a force structure that
can conduct simultaneous expeditionary military operations in widely separated theaters around the
world against multiple adversaries who may not even be natural allies (Liu). The core of the foreign

The Founding And Spread Of Buddhism, Hinduism,...
Often in history, when something is done right and praised by the masses, it is mimicked in some way
in future instances. This can be seen in the variety of religions that have sprung up over time and
gained large followings. Although they are all unique in their own way, certain aspects connect them
and allow one to see how they all, in some way, influence each other. When analyzing the founding
and spread of Buddhism, Sikhism, Confucianism, and Hinduism, it is evident that although there are
many distinguishing differences between the four religions, there are multiple similarities that link
them all with each other. The word Buddhism is derived from the word budhi , to awaken, so it makes
sense that the creation of the religion begins with its founder s awakening. It is said that Buddhism
started in the 6th century due to the actions of its founder, Siddhartha Gautama, the wealthy warrior
son of a king and queen in Lumbini (now Nepal). When Siddhartha was young, a soothsayer predicted
that he would become a renouncer and his father showered him in luxuries, hoping to change this
prediction. However, as a young man, Siddhartha went on a series of chariot rides in which he
witnessed a variety of suffering people and came to the realization that material pleasures, such as his
own, only serve to mask human suffering. After entering a period of severe and damaging
renunciation and realizing that it only added suffering, Siddhartha meditated under a tree and woke up

A Speech On The Rotary Club
Greenwood Rotary Club May 2, 2016 It s honor to be with you again. This is an exciting time for our
university and our community, and we have a lot to be thankful for. Spring commencement is coming
up in a few days, and we will be awarding around 2,600 undergraduate and graduate degrees. Our total
for the academic year will surpass 4,000 for the fifth year in a row. Providing more college educated
workers and leaders for our state is a top priority. We just produced our 18th Truman Scholar. It is the
second year in a row that one of our students has earned that high honor, recognizing the nation s top
students planning careers in public service. This spring we also had a new Goldwater Scholar, a
prestigious national honor for students in science, engineering and technology. Our baseball team is
back near the top, ranked in the top five nationally and shutting out Ole Miss in the Governor s Cup
last week. Our women s basketball team had its best season ever, reaching the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.
The support of our alumni and friends is amazing. A few months ago our current Infinite Impact
capital campaign reached its $600 million goal, three years ahead of schedule. And as you may have
read or heard, last week we announced a new goal $1 billion by the end of 2018 the largest campaign
goal ever for an educational institution in Mississippi. And I am personally thankful that the

really goes into depth on the process of studying the Bible and its documents. Brown has a new and
refreshing way of giving the reader this information that is necessary in a small group, or for a Biblical
scholar. This guide is not meant solely for the biblical scholar and talks in detail about the difference
between these two, because some may link the two together. Published by the Westminster John Knox

Though they both may be considered educational settings, Brown explains that one s best first
approach to Biblical Scholarship is to approach it with the same mind frame that one might possess
when in any other scholarly class. Brown also mentions the many different methods of interpreting the
Bible. In addition to the foundation of modern biblical Scholarship , the historical critical method,
readers will discover several other methods. Readers will get the opportunity to read up on the process
of each method and compare both the advantages and disadvantages. Brown then, strategically, works
into a sub chapter titled A Primer on Biblical basics which includes topics such as the creation of the
Bible itself, the languages of the Bible and chapter and verse divisions. Brown even includes the
significance of the use of italics. Finally, Brown concludes the first chapter with a sub chapter titled
How Can I Prepare for the Process of Academic Biblical Study? A very basic question that packs quite
a punch as this question is a foundation for enduring Biblical Scholarship. Brown dictates to readers
the fact that they should be prepared to give up the mind frame that always asks how something
applies to their personal life. He later talks about the fact that the words what I believe will only
further one from being a real benefactor of Biblical Study. All in all, Brown suggests that one entering

The Theme Of Friendship In Chaim Potok s The Chosen
Without friends, life is dull and tiresome, dragging slowly on until it feels too heavy to reverse the
effect. In The Chosen, by Chaim Potok, at first, Danny is lonely and sad without anyone who he can
openly talk to because of his distant relationship with his father. When Reuven, the protagonist,
coincidentally meets him in a baseball game, they start as enemies but quickly become great friends.
With a friend to help him, Danny suddenly brightens up and can open up about his difficulties. Also,
Danny and Reuven learn to overlook their differences, and only discover all the similarities between
them. Later, they start to complete everything together and bond tightly together. The friendship
between Reuven and Danny helps them overcome their distinctive struggles.
At the beginning of The Chosen, Reuven despises Danny and thinks of him as an evil boy, but later
realizes Danny s great qualities. One day, Reuven is playing a baseball game against Danny s team,
and before the game starts, Reuven s team talks about Danny s team as murderers . During the game,
Danny throws the ball and accidentally hits Reuven in the glasses, resulting in Reuven furthering his
hate for Danny. Afterwards, when Danny visits Reuven in the hospital to apologize, he is driven away
by Reuven s cruel comments. For example, Reuven angrily replies to Danny s apology by shouting,
You can go to hell, and take your whole snooty bunch of Hasidism along with you! (67). Later on, as

Political Turncoatism
Introduction To be a party to an organization is to be identified to that organization and renunciation of
the other party. However, in the Philippine case politicians freely and gracefully shift from one party
to another, the other changed his mind and do the same. Party switching had been a common scenario
in the Philippine politics. Its occurrence is usually at election times or at times when there is a need to
resolve a certain conflict involving a political issue or question and during times of revolutions and
People Power. True enough the party system of the country seems to resemble chameleons of
politicians going from one party to another.

I decided to think of the wrongs and liabilities of the political dynamics in the Philippines. I just can t
get over the rampant party switching of different politicians for their own convenience and in my
perspective, how the people just take that for granted and has it considered as a common Filipino
political culture. And then, I get to ask what kind of PARTY system do we have?
So that was it, I m going to study the root of POLITICAL TURNCOATISM, all about these political

Abstract
The goal of this paper is to make people aware of the excessive forms of control measures which
California control laws enforce. The laws need to be changed to loosen the burden on anyone
Californian who desire to legally purchase a gun for protection. Buyers are prejudged as potential
problems to the community rather than solely on their legal record, merit of good intentions, and right
for self preservation. Law abiding California citizen will continue to be treated as convicted felons and
other people with violent past.
Thesis
California gun control laws are not focus on the overall wellbeing of the public. This current law

threat; prior to purchasing a gun, rather than on their proper paperwork and qualifications. During this
process criminals are still obtaining weapons illegally and using them. The laws which prevent
personal protection with a gun most be changed in order to control and deter the increasing threat from

War On Terror And Terrorism
War on Terror After the incident of September 11, 2001, War on Terror became a serious problem.
That attack made huge effects on U.S government and many other countries. Many innocent people
lost their lives because of those terrorists. No one knows if an incident like the one on September 11
will happen again, but we have to know that we are the primary target . According to Patrick Coaty s
War on Terror, the terrorism has been developed throughout history. So that people should know to
fight the war on terror, and be prepared from another attack like the one on September 11, 2001.
According to Coaty s War on Terror, terrorism can be divided in three different levels: individual,
state, and international environment. During the French revolution, terrorism was developed the first
time, and some groups of people gathered to clean the evils of monarchy. They want to overthrow the
weak government and establish a new one that can bring them a better life. After that, terrorism was
expanded to the Soviet, and it became the best tool for them to control people, including their lifestyle
and their own privacy. Under the Soviet s control, terrorism has been developed and spread to many
other countries around the world. Meanwhile, the Stalin s policies were applied to control German by
Adolf Hitler. Hitler killed all the people who helped him on his political career. Hitler and Nazi Party

The Constraints Of The Shackleton s Expedition
During the period of time that the expedition took place there were probably a lot of constraints and
limiting factors for explorers. The first solution mentioned was stopping the journey when Shackleton
received the weather report. While that was an easy fix, it did not make it an easy decision. Shackleton
could not stop the trip due to the time constraint given to him by the industry, as well as the amount of
money that was put into the expedition. Many people invested into the expedition, and if he did not go
on the trip those people would have lost their investment. For example the text states, Dame Janet

writing admiring poems to the explorer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first solution was that the industry should limit exploration in the Polar region to very little, and
even limit time spent in the area. A constraint seen in this solution is that the industry sought to learn
more about what the region provided. There was land and resources that were yet to be claimed, and
each exploration company sought to claim them as their own. According to Amy Harris of Demand
Media, the Polar region has natural resources that include: fossil fuels, uranium, tungsten, nickel,
copper, gold, diamonds, freshwater, marine mammals, and important food sources. The second
solution mentioned was that a competitive nature should not have been encouraged. One thing that
should be considered is that it was not just explorers that were in the race, but also countries.
Explorers were the men that claimed the land and resources for a country. The text says, explorers
would place their country s flag on the land they covered. The third solution was that not enough facts
were provided to the industry to continue exploration. In the industry s defense, evidence could not be
recorded if a ship was lost. The exploration industry was not receiving information, therefore there
was still so many questions about the Polar

  • 2. Cultural Change Of The Vietnam War As America was fighting a war for freedom in another country, unruly teens were fighting their own at home. Cultural change, the explosion of free love, youthful rebellion, and a new liberal mindset all seemed to have one underlying device in common; drug use. The late 1960 s into the early and mid 70 s found the perfect environment for recreational drug use. Music and arts celebrated this lifestyle, as well as free thinkers and their idiotic philosophies about spiritual elation through mind altering narcotics. Lack of family structure with so many homes transformed by the Vietnam War also left young teens without guidance, and an economy with little to offer to the up and coming generation. As the next few years passed and the free love generation began to grasp the concept of working for a living, showering on a regular basis, love with commitment (or antibiotics), and cultural change through policy, they brought to the workforce a new dynamic not previously prevalent. Recreational drug use had become part of society. Vietnam War veterans also brought their own demons home with their return, opiate addictions were a common occurrence (Carson 2012). This new dynamic was seen initially in 1971 by the National Household Survey on Drug Abuse (NHSDA) spearheaded by the Office of National Drug Control Policy. The survey indicated that many illegal drug users were employed full or part time. The initial survey was used to try and understand the scope of the problem, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Cultural Relativism And Its Impact On Society Essay Though cultural relativism initially appears to be a logical conclusion for the diametrically opposed cultures of various countries existing on earth, it does not consider the possibility of quantifying specific aspects of society, culture, and an individual s life to create an objective comparison between cultures. It also does not entertain the possibility of observing that, while there are ideological dissimilarities interspersed throughout the earth, some political, cultural, or religious ideologies result in an increased quality of life for those who are constituents of a certain society. A fundamental aspect of cultural relativism is the recognition of deviation from the observer s own cultural and societal emphasis, and accepting that ideas are not inherently good or bad , but instead exist in some infallible category defined as different . This creates a self perpetuating cycle that leads to lack of reformation derived from the desire to maintain the façade of thoughtfulness and acceptance regarding all cultures. Whilst universal morality is a contentious topic, and for the purpose of this argument we shall assume it does not exist (due to the existence of such leading to a quantifiable methodology of assessing cultures moral integrity, which would make this entire argument of cultural relativism redundant), there is the conceptualization of innate, ubiquitous desires of humanity such as personal freedom and perceived equality in terms of social status (1). ... • 4. The Buddhist Temple That Has Created Disagreement Among... Borobudur located on the island of Java is a Buddhist temple that has created disagreement among the academic community. There are two schools of thought in which scholars such as art historians and archeologist debate about what the real significance and purpose of Borobudur is about. For example, a group of scholars argues that Borobudur is stupa. This contrasts the other scholars who contends that Borobudur is a mandala. Although both groups of scholars adequately analyze Borobudur and provide evidence to support their arguments, the argument that the Buddhist temple is both a mandala and stupa is rational. In this paper, I will present evidence from both sides of the argument, in which Borobudur has ignited copious amounts of controversy for in the scholarly communities. However, at the end, I will argue that I disagree with both schools of thought because Borobudur is actually both a stupa and a mandala. A stupa is a mound like circular structure that contains the relics of a Buddha. Buddhist frequently participate in pilgrimages to stupas because of worship opportunities. Although Buddhist architects built Borobudur in the 9th century, but academics do not know what the original purposes of what the structure was constructed for. However, though visual and architectural evidence many academics believe that Borobudur is a stupa. While traditionally, a structure, like a stupa consists of one focalized and central grand stupa: Borobudur does not; the temple is composed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I didn t necessarily enjoy taking them, however I thankfully never got too apprehensive. I looked at them as a way to determine my intelligence, and would gladly share my scores both good and bad with my peers. Looking back on my perception of tests, I find that my point of view was ignorant to the fact that test scores whether they are standardized or not do not determine a person s intellect. In the state of North Carolina, students take their first standardized test in third the grade. Commonly known as the End of Grade test (EOG), its purpose is to ...measure student performance on the goals, objectives, and grade level competencies specified in the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. In layman s terms, this test is simply to see if the student has met all of the requirements, and is fit to advance to the next grade level. The fact that the student could have been up all night, the night before the SAT trying to get in some last minute studying, and completely bomb the test the next day because they are sleep deprived isn t taken into consideration! Lenin s reason for writing State and Revolution was to explain his view on Karl Marx s reasoning for a state and views on what the proletariat, working class, should do during a revolution. The goal of a revolution such as this, a communist revolution, is to give the power to the working people, which is to say that Lenin, similar to Castro and Nkrumah, wants to be free from imperialism. Another is to Lenin s view on revolution is that it can only be achieved through nationality and unity.(Lenin, State and Revolution, page 22) The overthrow of bourgeois rule can be accomplished only by the proletariat, as the particular class, which, by the economic conditions of its existence, is being prepared for this work and is provided both with the opportunity and the power to perform it. (Lenin 23) He believes that a revolution can only succeed with the use of violence from the proletariat against the party that is in control.(Lenin, 22 23) The replacement of the bourgeois by the proletarian state is impossible without a violent revolution. (Lenin, 22) As a leader Lenin is an advocate of change. He is a communist and believes in giving power to the people, mainly the proletariat.(Lenin 20) Kwame Nkrumah, was the leader of Ghana first as Prime Minister then as President once they gained independence from Great Britain. The experiment is conducted by first placing two Styrofoam cups inside each other creating a makeshift calorimeter; then filling said calorimeter with ice water measured at zero ° Celsius. Next, a metal object with a mass of 30 grams or more is heated for five minutes in boiling water. After reaching the proper temperature of 100 ° Celsius, the metal is placed in the water. The water is stirred and the temperature is periodically read. These data points are recorded by the student to use current chemical formulas to discover the specific heat of the metal used in the experiment. Out of the three classifications on the periodic table metals, nonmetals, and metalloids metals is the most prominent (Encyclopedia Britannica). Though the purpose of these essays can be very controversial to some, after reviewing all three essays I have picked my favorite, or the one I agree with and disagree with most. We have no Right to Happiness makes a very good argument on the point the author is trying to make. The evidence gathered from a crime scene will provide facts and piece together information regarding the crime committed, this information is then used to form a case and debate what happened at the crime scene. Once all the information is gathered and the facts are established, the case is then presented to a court of justice to prove or disprove any facts and evidence. Usually there are many steps when examining and recovering forensic evidence for a crime scene and these are as follow. Planning to examine a crime scene When planning to examine a crime scene all aspects should be taken into account before entering. The first thing that should happen is cordoning off the crime scene, this is predominately performed by the police and is done so to ensure the crime scene is not contaminated by public access. The relevant microeconomics theory, the key factors involved and supportive analysis through diagrams is explained in the following paragraphs. The IFS argues that there is a compelling case for making a switch from motoring taxes to a system of national road pricing. Such a shift would be highly controversial, could be used to encourage drivers to avoid busiest times and routes by varying the amount charged for making journeys (Morris 2012). The IFS has released several factors that will get involved once the road pricing will be introduced. The amount collected from road tax and fuel duties will decline in the next 15 to 20 years; this is because more fuel efficient cars would have been introduced. The fuel duties will increase from 23% to 50% and they will not be particularly palatable. Once the tax will be raised, the road use will be more sustainable. • 20. Looking for Alaska Madison Davis English 30D Mrs. Reimer February 12, 2011 Looking for Alaska The main theme in John Green s novel Looking for Alaska is that there is more to life than can be experienced through any one person or experience, and that we will never truly understand everything that happens to us or the ones we love. We just have to accept these things, whether they be good or bad, and hope for the best. The novel is written in first person perspective, through the eyes of the main character. His name is Miles Halter, and he is a seventeen year old boy living in Florida. He doesn t have any real friends, only the people he sits with while eating lunch at school. One of his hobbies is reading the last pages of biographies of random famous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He really becomes much more of a three dimensional character. His entire outlook on life totally changes. In this section of the story Pudge becomes obsessed with finding out if Alaska killed herself, or if it was just a freak accident. The Colonel and him spend a good amount of time doing some serious detective work, attempting to understand what exactly went through her mind right before she died. Eventually though, The Colonel gets bored playing detective, and he soon stops trying to help. Pudge, however, keeps on with the investigation, perhaps bordering on the brink of insanity with his need to fully understand Alaska. He feels as though it s his fault that he didn t understand what was happening sooner, and that if he figures out what pushed her to this point it will make up for his ignorance. To really prove the kind of person that Pudge became after Alaska s death, I am going to include the last portion of the novel. It is an essay written by Pudge for his religious studies course. The student could pick any question that they wanted, and they attempted to dissect it and come up with a theological answer. I feel that even though it s the last part of the novel, it s where everything really comes together emotionally. Before I got here, I thought for a long time that the way out of the labyrinth was to pretend that it did not exist, to build a small, self sufficient world in a back corner of the endless ... • 21. An Effective Disaster Management System Essay This exploration, is aimed to develop an effective disaster management system that can be used efficiently to provide emergency medical care to disaster effected areas. During an emergency, it s very important to be quick at providing the medical care needed in the fastest way possible. There are usually different disaster zones and medical care providers must find the quickest path to reach all locations. Path analysis is required to examine all the routes possible, and find the most suitable one. From the view of an emergency response system, it is most important to find the shortest path from rescue sites to disaster areas through a road network. In order to take prompt actions, it s important to construct an appropriate transportation network. This is where graph theory comes in. Graphs are defined by a set of vertices and a set of edges, where each edge connects two of its vertices. For the example below, each of the dots is a vertex, while each of the lines is an edge. Often, the vertices and edges are labelled with letters, for example {v1, v2, v3,...,vn} for n number of vertices and {e1, e2, e3,...,em} for m number of edges. The example graph shown above after labelling would look something like this: It should be known that because the graph is an undirected graph (i.e. there is no restriction to the direction of the edges), it is represented by an unordered pair rather than an ordered pair. That means the two edges (e1, e2) and (e2, e1) are the same. However, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Julio Cortázar Push The Boundaries Of Reality And Reality The concept of unreality can be defined as something that is unreal, invalid, imaginary, or illusory: (Dictionary.com). At one time or another we have all fantasized about different things. However, have any of us ever attempted to incorporate those fantasies into the real world? The following paper will attempt to analyse how narratives of Julio Cortázar push the boundaries of reality and unreality. This essay will focus on the works of Cortázar and will particularly focus on two of his stories Las babas del diablo and Queremos tanto a Glenda. This essay will focus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s fair to say that both narratives show how Cortázar tests the boundaries of unreality and reality. However, Cortázar took alternative approaches in order to present this in the respective stories. In the case of Las babas del diablo, Cortázar introduced a first and third person narration into the story. The introduction of a third person narrator highlighted the inner turmoil that Michel was experiencing, thus forcing the reader to question his reliability as a narrator. As readers we were unable to trust Michel s version of events yet, we were still unable to completely disregard it as it was clear he had a traumatic experience in relation to the photograph. This is how Cortázar was able to test the boundaries of unreality and reality, by leaving his readers in a state of utter confusion. In a completely different, but equally effective way, Cortázar also expertly tested the boundaries of unreality and reality in Queremos tanto a Glenda. Unlike Las babas del diablo there was no clever use of two different narrations in order to confuse the reader. Instead Cortázar presented us with a very real idea (an appreciation for a celebrity) and exaggerated it to massive proportions. Although the events from Queremos tanto a Glenda seem unlikely to happen in the real world, there is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This can be seen in the variety of religions that have sprung up over time and gained large followings. Although they are all unique in their own way, certain aspects connect them and allow one to see how they all, in some way, influence each other. When analyzing the founding and spread of Buddhism, Sikhism, Confucianism, and Hinduism, it is evident that although there are many distinguishing differences between the four religions, there are multiple similarities that link them all with each other. The word Buddhism is derived from the word budhi , to awaken, so it makes sense that the creation of the religion begins with its founder s awakening. It is said that Buddhism started in the 6th century due to the actions of its founder, Siddhartha Gautama, the wealthy warrior son of a king and queen in Lumbini (now Nepal). When Siddhartha was young, a soothsayer predicted that he would become a renouncer and his father showered him in luxuries, hoping to change this prediction. However, as a young man, Siddhartha went on a series of chariot rides in which he witnessed a variety of suffering people and came to the realization that material pleasures, such as his own, only serve to mask human suffering.
