The document introduces a three-point directional search (TDS) algorithm to improve motion estimation in video sequences by significantly reducing the number of search points required to locate motion vectors. Unlike traditional algorithms that rely on symmetric patterns, TDS utilizes directional search patterns based on the most probable directions to find the minimum block distortion point. Experimental results demonstrate that TDS achieves faster search speeds and satisfactory peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) values across various test sequences.
