Unit 1: Getting to know you  (Period 1 st - 7 th ) Teacher:
1.New words: The capital (of)  . Spain (n)–> Spanish (a) Canada -> Canadian  . Italy -> Italian (un)real (a) -> really (adv)  a part- time job to graduate (from) smt: tốt nghiệp trường nào graduation (n)  to translate smt (into) smt  -> translation (n)/ translator (n) art gallery (n): phòng triển lãm nghệ thuật
2. Grammar: a. The present simple and past simple tense: Eg:  - He  lives  with his parents in Thanh hoa city - They  lived  in English two years ago.
The present simple tense: Use:  we use this tense to talk about repeated actions or habits, general truths and situation which are permanent (continuing for a long time) - Adverbs of frequency : never, seldom, sometimes, often, usually, always, everyday…
Forms: (+) eg:- I  work  for a computer company -  He  studies  French  S + V-s/es + O Note:  es  - End in – s, - sh, -ch, - o. To pass -> passes  To wash -> washes To watch -> watches To go -> goes - End in – Y -> I + ES To study -> studies To carry -> carries
(-) eg:- I  don’t work  for a computer company - He  doesn’t study  French S +don’t/ doesn’t + V  (bare infi)  + O (?) eg:  Do  you  work  for your father company? Does  he  study  French?  Do / does + S + V  (bare infi)  + O? -> Yes, S + do/ does No, S + don’t/ doesn’t
II. The past simple tense (regular and irregular verbs) Use:  we use this tense to talk about smt which started and finished in the past. Adverbs of time:  Yesterday, last week/ month/ year…, 2 days ago…
- Form (+) eg: - I  worked  for a computer company   -  He  studied  French S + V-ed + O Note:  - ed - End in – E + D To live  -> lived To type  -> typed -  Short vowel + one consonant To stop ->stopped To grab -> grabbed - End in Y -> I + ED To study -> studied To carry -> carried
+ Irregular verbs Have – Had . Be – was/were Find –found . Make –made Read – read . Write – wrote Eat –ate . Drive –drove Drink –drank . Win –won Ride –rode . Spend –spent Swim –swam . Run – ran Sing- sang . Speak –spoke Learn –learnt/learned Go -went
Eg: He  found  his wallet yesterday afternoon My friend  bought  a new bike last month They  drank  beer last night
(-) eg:- I  didn’t work  for a computer company - He  didn’t study  French S +didn’t + V (bare infi) + O (?) eg:  Did  you  work  for your father company? Did + S + V (bare infi) + O?  -> Yes, S + did   No, S  + didn’t eg:  Did  he  study  French? Yes, he did No, he didn’t
III. The present continuous tense   Use:  - to talk about smt which is in progress at the moment of speaking. Eg: - I  am speaking  English now - to talk about situations which are changing or developing around the present. Eg: His health  is getting  better
+ Adverbs of time: . now = at the moment = at present .Today, this week….
(+) eg: I’m living with my parents in Thanh hoa city He’s playing football with his friend  S + V-ing + O * Note:  - Verbs end in- e we remove the –e and add –ing Eg:  - write -> writing   - love -> loving   - type -> typing - Verbs with a short vowel and only one consonant. We double the consonant and add –ing Eg:  - run -> running   - swim -> swimming + forms
(-) eg: I’m not teaching now She isn’t playing tennis S + to be not + V-ing + O (?)eg: Are you watching TV now? ->Yes, I’m No, I’m not To be + S + V-ing + O ? - > Yes, S + be No, S + be not
IV. The future form “be going to” Use:  person’s plans and intensions Eg: - I  am going to see  peter tonight smt is sure to happen in the future Eg: Careful! That glass  is going to fall
Adverbs of time: -  tomorrow tomorrow morning/afternoon/evening next month/ week/ year… soon… tonight
- Form: (+) Eg: -  I’m going to work - He is going to buy a new house S + am/is/are + going to + V(infi) Eg:  - Look at those black clouds in the sky. It’s going to rain - Those people are going to get wet - We are going to spend holiday  on HCM city next year
(-)Eg: : -  I’m not going to work - He isn’t going to go to school S + be not + going to + V(infi) (?)Eg: - Are you going to meet her? + Yes, I am + No, I am not Be + S + going to + V(infi)? + Yes, S + be + No, be not
V. Questions with question words: (   what, where, which, why, how, who, whose) what, which, whose  can be followed by  a noun Eg:  -  Where  is the theatre? -  What size  do you take? -  Which coat  is your? -  Whose  is this bike? /  Whose bike  is this? -  How  do you go to school? -  Who  is your father? -  What kind  of music do you like?
-  How  can be followed by  an adj or an adv /  much or many Eg: -  How much  is this T- shirt -  How many  sisters do you have?
- Question with no question words: Yes/ No Eg: - Are you a student?   -> Yes, I am/ No, I’m not - Do you like football? -> Yes, I do/ No, I don’t - Can you play ping- pong? -> Yes, I can/ No, I can’t

VI.  Reading :   Communication 1. The different ways people can communicate by looking at the pictures. + write a letter and send by post + write a letter, put it in the bottle and throw in water 2.Work with a partner by turning to page 118(student A) and 120 (student B) 3. Read the text on page 7 quickly and find out new words.
Speaking and listening: Neighbors “ What are your ideal neighbors like?” (some students) + Characteristics + Appearance + Way of living 2. discuss “Good fences make good neighbors”. What does this mean? Do you agree?  3. Writing:  An informal letter
