ABACUS
Mental Calculation
Mental calculation is a process where one performs the calculation without the help of
any pen, pencil, paper, calculator or any other external medium. They perform the
calculations depending on their mental ability. A mental calculation involves combined
process such as listening, data storage and processing, logical implementation of
desired functions to solve & at the end of process to reproduce the same confidently &
correctly. All these are done in few seconds with accuracy.

Abacus training is initiated in a child with a set of rules. Initially the child learns to use
the Abacus tool proficiently to give the correct answer. Gradually the child is taught to
use the visualization skill and imagine an abacus, while the actual tool is removed. The
child is then taught to calculate normally like they would do on abacus, but this time
they will use the visualized abacus. Slowly as the time progresses the child confidently
does larger digit calculations with speed and accuracy, without the aid of any tool.

Abacus was invented by people of Salamis (Island near Egypt) in 500 BC. Japanese improved the model to
1+4 bead Soroban, which is used worldwide now.

Vedic Mathematics is the name given to the ancient system of Mathematics. Vedic means derived from
Vedas It was rediscovered by Jagadguru Swami Sri Bharati Krishna Tirthaji Maharaja (1884-1960).
Based on Simple Mathematical formulae from the Vedas, it's a unique technique of calculations with which
any mathematical problem can be solved mentally, 10-15 times faster than conventional methods. Vedic
maths is an ancient Indian, world’s fastest Calculating System. It enables calculation ten times faster than
the conventional system. It is an elaboration of the Sixteen Sutras (and 13 Sub-Sutras) of the Vedic
calculating system as mentioned in the Ancient Vedas of India. These were rediscovered by Shri Bharti
Krishna Tirathji between the year 1911- 18. Vedic Mathematics aims to simplify all arithmetic operations,
so as to facilitate students into making calculations with ease, accuracy & speed.
