- #2: Welcome to the U.S. Army Contracting Command. The following charts will acquaint you with our mission, operations, and people.
- #3: ACC was established in January 2008, following an Army study in 2007 led by Dr. Jacques Gansler which recommended urgent reform of Army contracting, leading to the creation of our command. Today our mission is to provide responsive, innovative, and efficient procurement solutions to enable the Army’s global warfighting dominance. As you can see ACC’s five strategic goals focus on one bottom line thing—people.
- #4: ACC is commanded by a two-star general with headquarters at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. It reports to a four-star command, the Army Materiel Command, also headquartered at Redstone. ACC has two one-star subordinate commands—the Expeditionary Contracting Command headquartered at Redstone and the Mission and Installation Contracting Command headquartered at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. ACC operates major contracting centers at Aberdeen Proving Ground (in Maryland); in the National Capital Region (in Virginia); New Jersey; Rock Island, in Illinois; Redstone Arsenal, Alabama; and Warren, Michigan. The total strength of the command is approximately 6,800 personnel: 5,961 civilians and 739 Soldiers.
- #5: ACC is a global command. We’re at more than 100 locations throughout the world, including Afghanistan, Germany, Korea, Japan, Italy, Qatar, and Kuwait. The Expeditionary Contracting Command provides our overseas support with eight Soldier brigades. The Mission and Installation Contracting Command provides contracting support in the United States with four field directorate offices and 35 contracting offices within the United States
- #6: In fiscal year 2012, ACC completed more than 228,000 contract actions worth $74 billion. ACC procures a variety of services, with a large chunk of it in knowledge-based services and systems. Other services include Information Technology, facilities and construction, equipment, weapons, and Research, Development, Test and Evaluation. Overall, this chart shows the variety of our customers—we buy bullets to bombs, food and clothing, equipment, and more.
- #7: ACC spends about 60 percent of all Army contracting dollars, approximately 21 percent of all Department of Defense contracting dollars, and about 15 percent of all federal contracting dollars.
- #8: The take-away from this chart is that we are involved with ventures throughout the world. The number on the bottom left is the most important aspect—it shows that we have 350 contingency contracting officers deployed around the world.
- #9: Contracting is a team sport and our team must work closely with our primary customer, the American Soldier, and the companies who furnish them with the weapon systems and support to fight and win.
- #10: We deliver to the Soldier what he needs. As money gets tighter, our goal is to do this more efficiently. Throughout each step, we continue to work closely with our customers and industry, using a teamwork process to provide the best support possible to America’s Army. The bottom line is: If a Soldier needs it, ACC buys it!
