What are AUPs designed to do?
                   Educate
                   Preserve
                   Encourage
                   Allow
                   Protest
                   Reduce
                   Discourage
                   Assure
What did I find in my AUP review?
 Cites prohibited activities in accordance with CIPA
 Explains the use of an Internet filter in compliance
  with CIPA
 Thoroughly defines inappropriate and malicious
  behavior
 Defines personal usage protocols, monitoring, and
  storage of data
 Specifically addresses copyright and system
  security
 Establishes protocol for district and ancillary
  websites
 Recommends consequences for inappropriate use
Recommendations for Updates
               Should the policy be reviewed
                with teachers and students and
                be signed each year,
                particularly as technology and
                the way the district uses it
                changes?
               Needs to include Web 2.0 and
                other emerging technologies
               Needs to include the following
                topics:
                   Freedom of speech issues
                   Include definitions
                   Netiquette guidelines
                   Note of student records and
                    images (to be included)
                   Selection of materials by teachers
                    (when updated filter is
                    implemented)
