The AEMAS program aims to train and certify 3,500 energy managers in ASEAN countries by 2013, and 1,000 additional managers per year after, to help 900 energy-intensive industries attain certification demonstrating energy savings by 2013. This will reduce energy consumption by 100,000 MWh annually and greenhouse gas emissions by 55,000 tons. The program is coordinated by the ASEAN Centre for Energy and implemented through partners in each country, with technical and financial support from other organizations. Major milestones include training curriculum endorsement and new energy laws requiring certified energy managers.
