“ACROSS THE PAVEMENT”

FADE IN:
EXT.AFTERNOON-SIDE STREET
ALEX, a slim teenager lies face down on the pavement. A
noticeably large pool of blood growing around his face.
He’s motionless, yet it’s unclear whether he’s dead or
alive.
His assailant, the physically able PETER HOLM stands over
him. PETER SNATCHES ALEX’s wallet. He REMOVES a £20 note
and a couple of credit cards. The CROWBAR GRASPED in his
left hand portrays him as even more thuggish as originally
perceived.
He walks away from ALEX’S limp body.
He walks away from ALEX. After around 20metres, an ominous
PRESENCE/FIGURE comes into view.
EXT.AFTERNOON-STREET
PETER WALKS to his car, phone in hand. He gets a message
UNKNOWN NUMBER
Get in the car. Start driving
PETER puts the key into the exhaust, looking set to start
driving. His car is filthy, but we don’t pay attention to
that.
He gets a follow up message.
UNKNOWN NUMBER
Go to 24 East Avenue.
Unbeknown to PETER, a figure stands motionless by a tree,
staring directly at him. Half of his body is obstructed by
the tree.
TIME LAPSE-DAY TO NIGHT
INT.NIGHT-CAR
PETER pulls up to the pavement. He’s across the road from
the house.
UNKNOWN NUMBER
Wait here-

PETER sits, motionless, staring directly in front of him.
LUKE walks past, but it comes as a shock as we’ve been
focused on PETER.
UNKNOWN NUMBER
Get ready-
(It’s shown to be 9:20PM)
Peter puts on a pair of gloves and black beanie he has in
the glove compartment. He puts on the drawstring bag,
attaching it onto his back.
UNKNOWN NUMBER
You’ve got 10 minutes. Remember-use the
key.
EXT.OUTSIDE LUKE’S HOUSE-NIGHT
PETER walks past the audience, submissive of his
surroundings. After a period of time, the PRESENCE comes
out from behind a car.
EXT.PATH OUTSIDE HOUSE-NIGHT
PETER sneaks down the path outside LUKE’s house. He
unsheathes the CROWBAR from his pocket, GRASPING it in his
right hand.
He peers into a window, with a small light illuminating the
outside from otherwise darkness. He enters the house
through the window.
INT.KITCHEN-NIGHT
PETER looks around. He see’s an iPhone on a table. He
walks over and SEIZES it, putting it into his bag.
There’s an obvious sense of urgency here.
SUDDENLY….he hears footsteps going down the stairs. He
quickly hides underneath a table in the corner of the room.
PETER messages his contact.
PETER
There’s someone here!

PETER (CONT’D)
What do I do?
PETER rushes out this message. He’s clearly uncomfortable
in this position.
He gets a reply.
UNKNOWN NUMBER
Are you sure?
PETER
Yes, there’s someone coming down the
stairs RIGHT NOW.
PETER waits for a response, seeing that the UNKNOWN NUMBER
is typing…
The footsteps grow quieter. PETER gets up and hides behind
the wall.
We see the FIGURE slowly move towards the Kitchen, through
the hallway.
PETER GRASPS the crowbar, holding it whilst waiting for
someone to move past….BUT……The footsteps stop.
PETER waits in a state of silent confusion.
PETER LOOKS around the corner, seeing nothing. PETER
continues up the stairs, very wary of his surroundings.
He sees one room with the door wide open. He enters the
room and after seeing a LAPTOP in it, he puts it into his
drawstring bag.
Several insert shots of PETER taking different items,
putting them into his bag.
PETER sees a closed door. He decides to open it and enters
the room cautiously….
INT.BEDROOM-NIGHT
PETER enters the master bedroom. Holding up the key, he
puts it into the drawer. Inside is thousands of pounds.
He puts all the money into his little drawstring bag.

He TURNS AROUND. THE FIGURE LOOMS over him. It MOVES
towards PETER.
We hear PETER and the figure fight from behind the wall,
but it’s clear that PETER is struggling….
We move closer to the door until……
We see PETER, on the floor, manage to close the bathroom
door behind him.
INT.BATHROOM-NIGHT
Its pitch black. PETER WHIPS out his phone, messaging his
contact frantically. He Sees a previous message from his
contact.
UNKNOWN NUMBER
What’s going on?
He messages back.
PETER
There’s something here.
UNKNOWN NUMBER
Have you got the package?
PETER
Yeah.
PETER (CONT’D)
I’m trapped.
PETER (CONT’D)
Send someone he-
SUDDENLY…..A hand clicks its fingers, illuminated by the
glare from his phone. PETER DROPS the phone and yells out.
INT.BEDROOM-NIGHT
The Doorknob SHAKES and TWISTS. We can’t see
inside…..We’re waiting, with no knowledge of what’s
happening inside the bedroom.
THEN…..the doorknob stops shaking. PETER BURSTS through

the door, breathless. He runs down the stairs as quickly
as possible.
He LOOKS over his shoulder. He’s still holding the
Crowbar. He’s frightened that he’s going to be forced to
use it again.
EXT.OUTSIDE HOUSE-NIGHT
PETER SPRINTS away from the house. He goes towards his
car. He FUMBLES with the keys, quickly entering the car.
INT.CAR-NIGHT
PETER sits down. He adjusts the mirror. We see his
reaction-shock. Peter moves his hand towards the door,
still looking into the mirror.
The car doors are locked. PETER FREEZES.
EXT.OUTSIDE CAR-NIGHT
We pan around, seeing the FIGURE in the backseat. Sound of
the wind becomes emphasized.
CUT TO BLACK
The sound of wind becomes louder and louder until stopping
entirely.
