- 1. Action movies, adventure movies, comedy movies, horror movies. All these are call as movie genres. So what is the meaning of genre? The meaning of genre is actually a category of literature or other forms of art or entertainment. Music, visual arts and film can be categorized in many form but today we are focusing only on a genre. You might wonder, what a science fiction movie really is. Science fiction is something like fantasy, but it use scientific understanding to explain the universe that it takes place in. It is generally includes the effects or ramifications of computers machines, travel through space, time or alternate universes. Now, I’m going to compare two different science fiction movies and that two movies will be Interstellar which is really mind blowing for me and the other is Lucy. The Movie “Interstellar” and “LUCY” which they are release in the month of October 2014 and July of 2014 respectively. The duration for Interstellar is 169 minutes and Lucy is 89 minutes. For Interstellar, the main character of this movie is Cooper and the name of the actor is Matthew McConaughey. The main actor for LUCY is Scarlett Johansson. We are going talk about their common moral value for each movie that they act. They are brave, smart and they sacrifice as they act in their movie. Both of them are brave. Like Lucy, after her boyfriend tricks her into delivering a mysterious suitcase to an even more mysterious group of Taiwan mafia guys. Then they cut her open, put a bag of blue crystals into her stomach, sew her up, and send her to Europe. Along the way she was gets beaten up by some bad guys and thus making the blue crystals leak out into her body system and this is where she became a superhuman allowing her to access 100 per cent of her brain capacity. Yes, she was afraid of those bad people but for the sake of herself. She had no choice to kill all those bad guys include the “Big bad guy” just to protect herself. As a reader, I know that you might think that killing people are not consider as brave but imagine if You are the Lucy, will you kill all the bad guy with your super power? In my personal opinion, this is what brave means. Next are Cooper which is from interstellar movie. According to the story, he is a trained NASA pilot with an engineering background. After Cooper reach the secret NASA Base, Cooper meet Professor John Brand which is the director of the remnants of NASA base and told Cooper about travelling through a Wormhole that open near the Planet Saturn. Cooper did accept the mission and travel into deep space and pass through that wormhole. Lucy is smart due to the blue crystal that ran into her body system and Cooper is smart since he have an engineering background. Well, for example, Murphy, Cooper's 10 year old daughter, believes her room is haunted by a “ghost” that trying to communicate with her. They soon discover that "ghost" is an unknown intelligence sending coded messages using gravitational waves, leaving binary coordinates in the dust and Cooper figure it out that the binary code is the coordinates of the NASA base hence it lead them to the base and find out what they are. By using the Brain Power of Lucy, she manage to read every single internet website all around the world and put all the information into her small tiny smart brain. There is now 922,329,600 registered website in the whole wide world and she use one night to memories it down. The saddest part of all moral value is both of them are so great that they need to sacrifice their life in order to save the next generation of human and to solve all the mystery that scientist could not even solve it for so long. Before the time of launch of the endurance which is the spaceship, he was forced to choose between his beloved family and the next generation of human life. Cooper knew that if he accept the mission, It will took a long time for him to get back from space to earth but still his final decision is to choose the next generation of human life. According to the story of interstellar, Cooper
- 2. used 3 years and 2 month to travel from earth to wormhole which is near planet Saturn. It also took several months to travel through the wormhole to the water planet which is Miller’s Planet. Once Cooper and his teammate reached the planet, they spend around 3 hours in that planet to prove that the planet is habitat and for that 3 hours it is equally to 23 years of earth times. They slingshot around the black hole which take 52 years. All the time that Cooper spent is just to save the next generation of human life. Well, for Lucy once she reached 100% of her cerebral capacity, she is shown to have several powers. For example, she can travels through space and time to solve all the mysterious stuff that scientist cannot be identity. At the end of the story, Lucy sacrifice her life and transform herself into a flash drive which contain all the important information to improve humankind. Here come the conclusion between Interstellar and Lucy. Both are potential science fiction movies as in how both movies present to the audience especially the moral value that I learn through this two movies. How about you? Although it’s just a science fiction movies, but I personally believe that it will happen after few decades.
