To add non-diegetic music to a film, first search for the desired song on YouTube and copy its URL. Paste the URL into a YouTube converter to download the song as an MP3 file. Save the MP3 and drag it into the film editing software, such as Premier, placing it in the audio section where wanted. Use the razor blade tool to cut out the desired part of the song to create a specific effect, such as creating a gloomy atmosphere.

- 2. Firstly, go on to YouTube and type in the song you would like to use for your film.
- 3. Once you have done this , click your song and copy the URL at the top of the screen.
- 4. Open a new tab and search ‘YouTube’ converter. Once on YouTube converter, paste your URL in the space provided and convert.
- 5. Once you have done this, save the mp3 file into a file of your choice. You can then drag this file into premier and put it into your film.
- 6. Once the song is in premier, drag the song to where you want in in your film within the audio section. You can then use the ‘razor blade tool’ to cut the song so you can use the part you want.
- 7. You may want to do this because a certain part of the song may create a certain effect that you want such as a gloomy, dark effect.
