- Peter Drucker conducted a political audit of General Motors in 1943-1946 at the invitation of Donaldson Brown. This resulted in his famous 1946 book "Concept of the Corporation" which popularized GM's multidivisional structure.
- GM was already a very successful global corporation at the time, so the book did not receive great reviews from GM's chairman Alfred Sloan. But it contributed significantly to modern concepts of corporate structure.
