The 2021 IEEE CIS Summer School provided lectures and workshops on computational intelligence (CI) concepts like neural networks, fuzzy logic, and evolutionary computation. Over 200 students from Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia and other countries participated, including 31 high school students. The program introduced CI fundamentals and applications through lectures, with additional workshops having students use AIoT devices to apply concepts. Feedback found most participants quickly understood CI principles. The goal of exposing high schoolers to CI fields early was seen as stimulating future research involvement.
