AIREA is a prototype project funded by the Leonardo da Vinci program that aims to promote lifelong learning and mobility for vocational training in the airport sector across Europe. The project uses web 2.0 technology to facilitate blended learning through an online platform that allows course facilitators to provide online and on-site training to students, who can gain work experience and have their skills validated. Several city councils and universities across Europe are collaborating on the AIREA project.
