3. I believe the extract from the script is from
act 1 (the setup). This is clear to me as it
seems as if they are creating tension,
building up for the rest of the film, and the
lack of conflict, also the protagonists first
appearance is in this scene, so it wouldn’t
make much sense if it were any other act.
This script is Linear, as it seems as if only
moving in one direction, making the overall
narrative in chronological order.
The script also seems to be multi-stranded
as we follow Schofield and Blake, suggesting
both are important and prominent
characters that we as an audience will
create a connection therefore will follow
their journey.
In this script, they are talking about
receiving things while in war.
Set at the end of WW1 in 1917, about two
soldiers who woke up from a nap.
We are introduced to the two characters,

5. Bohemian Rhapsody
I believe this extract if from the 3rd
act
(resolution). This is due to the lack of overall
introduction, and the fact that our protagonist
dies.
I believe that the script proves to us that this
film, Bohemian Rhapsody, is Non-linear. This is
because it goes from a show instantly to his
death, clearly proving the lack of chronological
order.
I also believe that this narrative is multi
stranded. This is because two other characters
are introduced, therefore when our protagonist
dies, there will be a emotional element from
these other two characters, making it multi
stranded.

7. Radio 3
This is non-fiction, as they are real
people having a real conversation. Also,
nothing out of the ordinary is said, and
radio is likely to be non-fiction.
This sounds like it’s a Linear narrative,
as they follow a clear structure of
conversation.
This seems to be multi-stranded due to
the various topics they conversate
about during this section of text.
In reference to the three act structure, I
believe this is the first act. This is due to
this seeming like the first interaction
with these two characters, who seem to
be the main protagonists.
This is elaborate code, as we do not
need any prior knowledge to
understand this scene.

Damned, Damned, Damned.
In reference to the three-act structure, I believe
this is the first act. This is due to the characters
being introduced at the start, and they seem to be
the protagonists, therefore it would be unusual
for this to be any act.
In my opinion this is a single stranded script. Mick
is set up to be the main protagonist, therefore I
believe we are going to follow his struggles and
story. This is clearly set up in this extract.
This is a non-linear. This is because it seems like
there will be irregularities of time of events. Mick
will remember a time of happiness leading to a
flashback.

Doctor Who: The women who fell to
earth
This script follows the story of Ryan Sinclair, making a
YouTube video about someone he admires. He then
tries to learn to ride a bike and throws it out of
frustration.
In reference to the three acts, I believe this is the
second act. This is due to this extract starting with
confrontation, therefore making it unlikely to be the
first act. Also, Ryans admiration tells us that there is
room for him to grow with the person he admires,
therefore unlikely to be the third act as well.
In my opinion, I believe this is Non- Linear, due to the
cuts to different activities that Ryan is doing, such as
the YouTube video and the attempt of riding a bike.
I also believe this will be multi- stranded, as we are
introduced to Ryan as a protagonist, but other people
are mentioned, such as the person he admires, and it
may follow their story in the future.
12. TV News Script
The use of elaborate code is much more
persistent than the use of restrictive code. This is
due to their purpose being to inform teenagers of
news. Must be understandable rather than
sophisticated.
This is a non-fiction news report. It is reporting to
teenagers about road safety.
Uses a formal form of language, as this is
commonly used in TV News Report Scripts. The
cast are being respectable.
This would appeal adults, as their teenage
children may have the urge to go and drive, yet
they are not as concerned for their safety, so their
parents may look out.

Red Dead Redemption
This is a script for the popular game Red Dead
Redemption and starts the narrative.
In reference to the three-act structure, I believe
this is the first act, as we see the contents page,
that is usually in the first act of video game scripts.
This seems to be linear, as It is in chronological
order so far, however not much information is
provided.

15. Game Script - Tomb Raider (2013) by Rhianna
Pratchett
• The Tomb Raider game script introduces us to the protagonist, Lara Craft, who
is an explorer and adventurer. She speaks to the audience as an omniscient
narrator on how she is thrown into these adventures, and the script continues to
develop into a crisis which jeopardises Lara.
• In reference to the three-act structure, I would say that the game script is from
the second act of the story. This is because it starts with the protagonist in a
crisis - a shipwreck - and the stakes of her situation seem to get even higher:
she awakes from being kidnapped and is bound in an unknown place.
• I would say that the script is non-linear. This is because, the script starts with a
climactic moment, rather than an introduction of characters and a set-up of the
plot. This suggests that the story may go back in time to the introduction to
establish the motive of the protagonists actions as well as establishing the
purpose of certain events.
• I believe that this is a single-stranded narrative. This is because the omniscient
narrative, who is also the protagonist heavily suggests that it is her who we’ll
follow throughout the story, regardless to what the antagonist of her journey
may present.
