WHAT IS AN ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
 An alumni association is an association of former students .
 They organize social events, publish magazines, and raise funds.
 help alumni maintain connections to their educational institution and fellow
graduates.
 Financially support and help cultural and technical events, support new alumni.
 new friendships and business relationships with people of similar background.
 IS IT JUST THAT MUCH??

COLLEGE MEASURED BY ITS ALUMNI
 When you enroll at a college, you link yourself to every person who ever attended
that college.
 A college must be able to produce influential people in important positions around
the world in the respective fields.
 Their first-hand knowledge of history, traditions, and spirit give alumni a unique voice
in speaking to students and families about the value of a degree from your institution.
 Campus Placement Cells must take advantage of the alumni network for internships
and job opportunities.
 Good alumni increases the quality of students, thus increase the college
reputation.
 Finally, an active alumni network of a good college will say positive facts about the
college, will always be updated about the current activities in the college.
 It all points to a single organization – A strong and working Alumni Association.

WHY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION WEBSITE IN SOE
 Alumni relations strategies and functions are not
adequately coordinated.
 No functioning Alumni Association for School
of Engineering, CUSAT till date.
 We are not having a site exclusively for SOE.
 You can’t build a powerful organization without a
strong base.
 A Good platform where the Alumni can keep in
touch with the college and with each other – An
Alumni Association Website.

TECHNOLOGIES USED
 PHP 5
 Hypertext Preprocessor , The Open Source Language which is trend in the 20th century for creating fast and
dynamic web pages. This the Server Side Scripting Language, with a powerful tool for creating web pages.
 HTML5
 HTML5 is a markup language used for structuring and presenting content for the World Wide Web and a
core technology of the Internet.
 CSS3
 CSS3 is the latest standard for CSS. CSS3 is completely backwards-compatible with earlier versions of CSS.
 MySQL
 MySQL, the most popular Open Source SQL database management system (DBMS), is developed,
distributed, and supported by Oracle Corporation.
 JavaScript
 JavaScript (JS) allows client-side scripts to interact with the user, control the browser, communicate
asynchronously, and alter the document content that is displayed.
 Ajax
 AJAX is the art of exchanging data with a server, and updating parts of a web page - without reloading the
whole page.

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION WEBSITE
 This project is aimed at developing an up to date repository for the alumni of
the college, which is of importance to a college.
 The Repository and Search Engine (RASE) is an Internet based application
that can be accessed throughout the World.
 Any Registered SOE alumni or Admins from each branches can access
the Search Engine to know about any Alumni of our college and interact with
them.
There are two types of logins:
1) Admins – Selected from each engineering branches.
– Alumni Association Authorities.
2) Users – All former students of SOE, Cusat.

 Account common for Alumni association, for each branch
or for an event (e.g. Sargam, Tech Fest etc.)
 Alumni can contribute to the alumni association fund
and this fund can be used for the betterment of the
college.
DONATION

 Send Mass Message
 An option for Admin
 Sort by name, branch, year of admission, employment etc.
 Lock Account
 Admin can block a user if found not genuine
 Reason for blocking is displayed to the blocked user
 Contact Admin
 An option for users
 Users can send messages to Admin about their concerns of the
site or suggest ways to improve the functioning of the site.

IMPLEMENTATION
 The proposal to build an official alumni association website was
presented in the meeting of the alumni of School Of Engineering.
 An official sanction from the principal is taken to build the official
alumni association website for the School Of Engineering.
 Security and authenticity by
linking with the WAIS
DATABASE on registrations
after 2004.
 An official Facebook page
and official groups for each
department are to be run in
parallel to the
site.
