This document summarizes a case report of a tail amputation procedure performed on a 1-year old male tom cat. The cat was brought in after an accident where it could no longer move its tail and the tail showed signs of fracture, necrosis, and wounding. The veterinarian suggested docking the tail above the site of injury. Anesthesia was administered and the tail was surgically removed by making incisions on the dorsal and ventral sides, disarticulating the joint between vertebrae, ligating arteries, and suturing the skin. Post-operative care included antibiotics and pain medication for 5 days.
