Cycle for Survival, founded in 2007 and officially supported by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center since 2009, has raised over $105 million for rare cancer research. The event is open to individuals over 18, and teams of four to eight riders must raise at least $1,000 to participate, while individual riders need to meet a $4,000 fundraising requirement. All funds raised are allocated directly to 11 different research areas at MSKCC.

- 2. Introduction • An experienced technologist in the financial services industry, Keyvan Azami has served as the head of fixed income derivatives trading technology at Bloomberg LP since 2014. Outside of his professional life, Keyvan Azami supports several cancer charities, one of which is Cycle for Survival. Created in 2007, Cycle for Survival has raised over $105 million for rare cancer research and has been an official Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) event since 2009. From the first event, which drew 230 cyclers, to the most recent event, which drew 27,000 cyclers, it continues to grow each year. Significantly, 100 percent of every dollar raised goes directly to funding 11 different research areas at MSKCC, covering areas including pancreatic cancer and molecular oncology, among others.
- 3. Cycle for Survival • The event is open to anyone over 18 years of age, no cycling experience necessary. Fundraising with Cycle for Survival is most often done with a team of four to eight riders, and each team must meet a minimum fundraising total of $1,000. The teams are given a customizable fundraising webpage to solicit donations from people throughout the country. Finally, teams reserve up to four bikes for four 50- minute sessions at a team-selected location. Individual riders may participate by reserving a bike for four hours with a minimum fundraising total of $4,000.
