The document presents an analysis and design of one-dimensional periodic foundations for seismic base isolation, leveraging the unique properties of phononic crystals to block seismic waves within certain frequency bands. Through parametric studies, the effects of material properties and geometric configurations on frequency band gaps are evaluated, proposing design guidelines for effective seismic isolation. The findings indicate that periodic foundations can enhance structural resilience against seismic activity without the large displacements typical of conventional isolation systems.
