- 1. ANALYSIS OF PRELIMINARY TASK Lauryn Robertson
- 2. MATCH ON ACTION • Match on Action is an editing technique for continuity editing in which ones shot cuts in to another shot portraying the action of the subject in the first shot. • I have learnt from filming this with my group is that the action we are portraying is much clearer to the audience and easier to follow what is going on in the scene. • We used the match on action to portray someone walking into a room by filming him walking up to the door then an close up of his hand opening the door then filmed he coming in which allowed us to be able to develop this shot in our thriller opening scene to help the audience follow what is going on to keep them engage.
- 3. 180 DEGREE RULE • 180 Degree Rule is filming guideline that participants in a scene should have the same left-right relationship to each other, with filming only taking place within the 180 degree angle which maintains a conversation • Filming this rule I learnt how to maintain and keep the audience engaged during a conversation in a scene also to know who is speaking as this rule makes it clearer to see and hear the conversation • We used the 180 degree rule to film a conversation between two individuals to show the relationship of the characters and what they were talking about. But our overview shot was a bit unstable and shaky which we need to improve next time when we film our thriller opening scenes.
- 4. SHOT REVERSE SHOT Shot reverse shot is a continuity editing technique is used in conversations or simply characters looking at each or other objects. I have learnt how to film a shot reverse shot which has allowed me to be able to use it in my thriller opening scene to engage the audience to a specific scene to see the actors relationship and conversation in depth and who is in the scene and the quick cut edits adds tension most times Using this shot reverse shot as an example in my preliminary task allows me and my group to film a conversation easier and more clearer to the audience in what is going on the scene
