The document discusses a modified local binary pattern (MLBP) method for extracting features from speech signals. The MLBP method calculates feature vectors for speech files that are more compact than the original signals, improving efficiency for tasks like speech classification. Experimental results showed that MLBP extraction was very fast, with features that were stable and unique for each speech sample. MLBP significantly outperformed other extraction methods in speed and throughput. The extracted features allowed accurate identification of speakers and the words spoken.
