Appreciative Inquiry Behind every problem is  a frustrated dream
What is Appreciative Inquiry? Appreciative Inquiry is about the co-evolutionary search for the best in people, their organization, and the relevant world around them. (David Cooperrider) Appreciative Inquiry (AI) , can in danish be translated to 'værdsættende undersøgelse'.  AI is both a communication therory and a communication tool.
What does Appreciative Inquiry mean? Appreciative:   1) To appreciate and understand what gives life and meaning.  2) To grow/increase in value (i.e.”the house has appreciated in value”) Inquiry:   1) To explore and discover. 2) To be curious and open for new possibilities.
Where does AI come from?  AI started in 1980, when a young Ph.d. student discovered, how employees in The Cleveland Clinic – despite huge organizational problems – showed will to make the clinic funtioning. AI – method 5.  Linear understanding 5. Circular understanding 4.  Create an actionplan 4.  Create the future 3.  Analyse possible solutions 3. Share values and visions through dialouge 2.  Analyse causes 2. Make visions for the future  1.  To identify keyproblems and what is missing Look at the best experiences or the best pratice Problem orientated focus Appreciative focus (AI)
Do you see the difference? Which problems are there in the organization? What works well in the organization? How do  you  ask questions?
Focus on what is working. What is valued in the workplace?  What good experiences were behind? What succeded extraordinairy well?  What made this possible?  What happened?
