Art is how you express yourself, and everyone does it in their own way, in their own style. I chose to
write about the two following art works because I believe they have so many similarities but are
done in completely different ways. For this comparison and contrast assignment the two works of art
I chose to write about are called; End "Mixed Media" by: Terry Peterson,shown in the art building at
Shasta College, and Forlakeph "Mixed Media in a Glass Jar" by: Gioia Fonda, also shown in the art
building at Shasta College. In the First work of art, End by: Terry Peterson; It is a tall sculpture with
a frame of wood standing at 103"x 108"x 60" in the middle of the sculpture is a wrapped
mummified fish as the centerpiece. I would describe it as Ritualistic because of the symbolism of

Inside a old weathered fence and is surrounded by a bunch of trash. The function of this artwork
would be social commentary because of the realisticness of the society that we could all be in.The
elements I see in this art work are; color, all the colors above the fence from the circles, and the

Maclaren Art Analysis
Upon arrival at the MacLaren exhibition center in Barrie Ontario, I was very surprised to be
surrounded unusual art that have been all created by Canadian artists. Their was a wooden granary
on the floor resembling world war 2 and and some unique maps that were written in words. Many of
their painting and sculptures resembled to the history of Canada going back towards the first nations
and both world wars. The MacLaren Art Centre has been made to honour Maurice MacLaren, a
famous artist who bequest Throughout looking at every piece, you could see the messages they
portray to the audience and how much of impact it has within our canadian history. Approaching an
interesting piece, it was Bison skulls skillfully fabricated together by exhaust parts, stacked high like
a mountain.
I was intrigued to find this art piece which is called Head Smashed In Engine Block Buffalo Jump,

That was their culture and way of living, to skin and scavenge the bison, taking anything useful such
as fur for clothing and its meat for food. After the animals rot, they collected all the bones in large
quantities and shipped them back to be used for resources. I think this was a great way to show the
western culture by using scavenged materials which were taken from a car scrap yard. I could
imagine how long it would take to construct countless bison skulls using various car exhaust parts.
Looking at closer inspection, you can see many skulls have been discolored to a rust or brownish
finish, and there are actually exhaust mufflers within the pile standing

Sequential Art Rhetorical Analysis
Rhetoric in Sequential Art When the word sequential art comes to mind, many people would
automatically assume some elaborate work of art that belongs in an art museum, but at a baseline
sequential art can be your average comic book or comic strip. This isn't to say that they shouldn't be
in an art museum because the work displayed in them is phenomenal and in some ways, can surpass
your stereotypical piece of art, but most people consider them childish, a waste of time, or
something that could never be taken seriously. In reality comics and other forms of sequential art do
something that many pieces of art cannot do. They can combine the beauty or simplicity behind art,

When thinking about a novel, one of the most commonly used rhetorical tools used is imagery.
When a scene is important for the sake of the plot or important to the author, the author works hard
to bring the reader into the world that they see the action happening in. The same can be said of the
presentation of a certain sequence within a piece of sequential art. Whereas a square can be seen as
an ordinary frame for a comic, when the art is put into any other shape, it now stands out as
important to the reader and they are more inclined to noticed more detail within the scene or frame.
The same effect applies within the Narmer Palette and its presentation on the stone tablet that it is
carved on. The main parts of the story are in giant panels, framed in a large rectangle and
surrounded by the Egyptian goddess Bat, a cow goddess who was prevalent in the Old and Middle
Kingdoms of Egypt. The goddess was told to have two faces, one able to see to the past and the
other to see towards the future, hence why the face of a cow appears twice on each panel of
significance. For many who were to look upon the palette it would be a sign of a blessing,
significance, and greatness. This particular style of detail can be considered a rhetorical device

Art Analysis: Theatercnu
a. Graphic– My graphic is meant to be reminiscent of CNU's sail symbol without simply copying it
with the letters "TheaterCNU" beside it. They represent sails in motion, more curved than the edgy
and sharp CNU sails. Theater is fluid and constantly moving, and that should be represented within
the graphic. These sails are also facing the opposite direction of CNU's sails, showing that theater is
moving in a creative new direction that is complimentary to CNU's core beliefs. TheaterCNU is
meant to be expressive of these values in ways that are particular to this art form, and that should be
seen in any symbol of the department. Looking at the mission statement, this brings in "artistically
stimulating," "expression," and "appreciation of the art of theater as central to the liberal arts." The
three sails also represent "theater's role in the past & present, & its future purpose in the world."

Color– Three different shades of purple were assigned to each sail within the graphic, and the
typeface was black. I wanted the graphic to pop from the text to emphasize its significance. The
differing colors also highlight the past, present, and future dynamics that were discussed within the
"graphic" section. The brighter colors growing darker as the eye travels from left to right provide a
solid transition to the black for the typeface. Since purple is a cool color, using multiple shades of it
along with black does not look as unnatural as it would with any other color. Additionally, purple
has been commonly associated with regality and royalty for centuries, and I found that appropriate
in regards to the historical and modern significance of theater. This lends its hand to the creativity in

Isolation In Art Analysis
Like all art, there are endless ways for this piece to be interpreted evoking countless emotions
depending on the experiences of the person. The goal of an artist, is to inspire thought and
conversation, which this piece does beautifully. The best thing about snow, is how it can completely
change the atmosphere of a scene. When I look at the piece, I can feel the cold and hear the
deafening silence that comes with a winter storm. I love that snow can lead to some many
sensations, from feeling cozy and safe by the fire, to a cold dreadful feeling of complete isolation.

Giambologn Art Analysis
Our first piece of art, on the left, is titled Rape of a Sabine by Giambologna in 1583. This is a three–
dimensional sculpture that has many curves and points of view. You can circle around this sculpture
and find aspects of it you couldn't visualize at one point. The faces of the sculptured men and
woman have a look of despair, sorrow, and misery that create for a very dramatic piece. Rape of the
Sabine tells a story of roman men seizing Sabine women to marry them in order for the city of

The photographer of this photograph was working with the Federal Government when she came
across a mother trying to live during the hard times of The Great Depression. This mother, who's
name is unknown, was living in a migrant camp with her children. The family was dealing with
many hardships like famine and inequality along with many others during that period. This image
has caused controversy ever since it was published and reproduced. Some say Lange lacked
compassion of the mothers feelings when it was published and brought forth. Overall, the image

Installation Art Analysis
Installation art is an embodied and immersive experience, which can affect the way people navigate
and experience a particular space. It has the ability to activate the viewer's mechanisms of
perception and ultimately awareness of a place. This occurs through the stimulation of the senses by
interaction or awakening one's perception through disorientation. Installation art directly presents

Kusama is a conceptual artist and self–proclaimed 'obsessive', whose daring works has been dealing
with notions of repetition. Her stunning and wildly abstract composition of dots, the 'Obliteration
Room' is entirely covered with endless coloured dots, which is a representation of the artist's psyche,
wherein hallucinations have haunted her since childhood. She utilized "ready–made" materials,

Art Museum Analysis
When walking into the freshly built art museum of West Virginia University one can automatically
feel a sense of serenity. The spacing of the art pieces and the way the light hit them makes you want
to take your time and examine every detail each work has to offer. It gives you no other choice but
to give your full, undivided attention to one piece at a time. The way this museum was designed
made it so I almost forgot about the rest of my day. Where I had to be later, what class I had, when I
had to be in for work, all of those everyday thoughts and worries seemed to disappear when walking
through those doors.
The piece that really stood out to me was a work by Thomas Cole. Cole's piece caught my eye due
to the simplicity of it. He took something as simple as a landscape and made it extremely detailed

Though those seem to be bold, you can see the delicate detail put into each section making the piece
flow beautifully. His strokes are smooth, yet uneven, giving the piece an interesting twist. The
background offers a somewhat ominous sky, using what seems to be only whites and greys. The
background seems to be the most muted part of the piece whereas the middle ground really grabs
your attention with its vibrant colors. Cole uses yellow and muted brown to pop against the hues of
green in the trees. These pops of color among the tree scape really make this the focal point of the
piece. The foreground offers a very earthy feel with a simplistic pasture. Broken colors of green and

Art exists everywhere, even in places that might not seem acceptable or logical to society today.
Museums, public schools, personal homes, and even the mountains contain pieces of art that
somebody created. Some artistic masterpieces catch the eye in a flashy, conspicuous way, while
others require more concentration and thought to perceive. Millions of artists receive recognition for

Amazingly enough, Donella Dean painted up until she reached the golden age of sixty–five. Her art
classes started when she was just in fourth grade and continued through high school and even her
married life, so art was unceasingly a part of Donella. She was born in the year of 1927, in Idaho.
After a while, her family moved to Cokeville, Wyoming. Throughout those younger years of her
life, Donella sketched and painted often, and occasionally took classes that taught different
techniques along the way. Donella created the painting I observed in 1981 when she was 63 years

n this paper, I will be analyzing the following piece of digital art. Now the first thing I notice when I

The artistic quality of the clock and the design of the ceiling and the tower itself fascinates me

A Christian Art Analysis
As I write this post, a recent memory springs up in my mind. Earlier this year, my dad had an art
show at the Steffen Thomas Museum focused on Christian Art. One afternoon, Chris and I decided
to go over there so I could look at his show. I am always amazed at my dad's art and this was no
exception. As we went from painting to painting, I could not imagine the countless hours he spent
on each one of these paintings.
However, our trip did not last countless hours as I looked over 30 paintings in about twenty five
minutes. This was not due to my lack of interest, but more to my novice mindset towards art. Art is
similar to most skill activities in that people that are active in said activity can better understand and
articulate the small actions that lead to a great piece of art, a great football play, or a great movie. I

When I first saw these two paintings side by side on Chris's website I could not distinguish if one
was just the finished product of the other. The first painting seems to have larger and thicker brush
strokes than the second which has more white spaces separating the strokes. Both paintings are
surrounded by a black box that has an opening on the northwest corner. The opening could be an
escape from whatever the black box contains. But I do not believe that the box holds evil or Chris
would have used a different color than a calming light blue. Imagine the light blue being replaced by

Censored Art Analysis
When I think about censored artwork, I think of artworks that show visuals such as violence and
nudity. This semester, Levi's showed his opinion of hitler by making fun of him. This artwork shows
the humiliation and evilness of Adolf Hitler. During this semester, our principal, Mr. Barzetti
physically took down his painting from the learning commons; leaving it on the ground with both
canvases smashed together, risking the painting of being destroyed. I feel that todays community
struggles with censored artwork since it represents disappointing memories from the past. I feel that

Art Showcase George Rodrigue: Art Analysis
Art Showcase George Rodrigue I chose George Rodrigue for my art showcase project, because his
artwork was one of a kind. He was born on March 13th, the year of 1944. George was born in New
Iberia in Louisiana. He spent most of his childhood life living there. George passed away in 2013,

Art Statue Analysis
At first glance of the two statues, they look as if they were part of a bigger, grander arrangement.
They both have similar style of carving, composition and go together well. So one can suspect that
they may have been pulled out of a group even without prior knowledge of the people the figures
represented. There are subtle details in both art pieces that helps to convey the emotions without
being too dramatic to the viewer. For example, the position of the art work's hand or the slight
leaning of the head. These may seem to be too inconspicuous to convey a message, but when one
sees all these elements come together in the piece, it all makes sense. The main focus of these art
pieces are the emotions they convey and not necessary the craftsmanship of the artist. The artist is

It starts with a narrow head, getting wider around the torso, then narrow again around the feet. Other
statues of the Virgin Mary also have this shape. And most people familiar with statues of Mary with
most likely be able to recognize her in this particular statue. Although there is a familiarity in this
shape, other aspects of this statue makes it unique. Only the tip of the left foot is visible. The artist
may have done this on purpose to make carving seem seamless. Even the base of the art piece is not

I am Alicia Miller, entrepreneur, and owner of the business "Art and Soul." "Art and Soul" is an art
studio and supply shop for all types of artists. I came up with the idea for the store from my love of
art and my idea of becoming a psychologist. The business now has developed into a different idea
from my first vision of it. The first idea was an art studio, to sell works of art. Then art therapy– you
could guess how quickly that was shot down. At last, I came up with the final design of a teaching

Assignment: Art Analysis
1. It was hard to get the feet to look realistic. The detailing part was hard to. Like you had to get all
the contrast, structure, movement, and realism. It was hard especilly because in my painting my feet
were small. Another hard part was getting the right shade. Like ppaint the feet a color and then make
it a little darker for the areas that neede shading and dimension to give a realistic/ contrast to
distinguish the difference. It was hard to get a shade that wasnt dramatically drker that the feets

Id give myself an A or a B. The theme of this assignment was feet with letters. My painting was like
a poster to a ballerina dance academy. I painted many feet, ballerinas, letters, detail, highlight, and
gave contrast. I think my painting showed im capable of painting with ability. Even though the
theme was feet and letters and i went all out, if i was a teacher id give that student an A or even extra
credit. Why? Because thats creativity thats what arts about. Id be happy that my student got inspired
behind the concept of the new project and decided to go all out and put in more time, effort,

4. I would grade myself with an A or B. Because I was able to sketch the whole thing in a day. The
painting process took about a week, thats seems quick to me. Especially for the amount of detail,
intricate designs, and patience. I think my painting looks great for the short amount of time it took to
complete. And im happy with it.

out. In total i painted 7 feet. Some are just feet, common stances ballerinas do, ballerinas performing

Art Analysis: Dying Warrior
The work I chose to conduct a formal analysis on is named Dying Warrior the artist is unknown
since it was made between c. 490–480 or 470 BCE. The sculpture is made from marble and is 1.83
meters long. The statue was found in the left corner of the east pediment of the temple of Aphaia,
Aegina. the statute appears to be anatomically correct which leads me to believe that the creator had
a understand of the body and how it works. I believe that the subject of this sculpture is to tell a
story of the death of a warrior and how he appears before death claims him. The statue is pure white

He wears a traditional greek helmet and has beard that covers his chin and neck. The statues origins
are from Greece which explains the shield and helmet of this design. The sculpture also has rich
detail throughout the entire body especially the face. The muscles are defined and the genitalia is
visible the face is also surprising detailed with a very well–defined eyes, mouth, and nose. The
creator of these piece must have had a keen eye for anatomy because the details put into the muscles

Art Analysis: Monet
For what purpose was this work originally made? What is its in situ? o The purpose of the piece is
for the viewer to see the landscape as Monet saw it in the mornings of 1987. The painting's in situ, I
believe, is in on a wall or somewhere where a viewer could enjoy it. I don't know if there is a
specific place like Titan's Pesaro Madonna is in a church at a specific location so that Jesus is
centered when you first see it. I see this this piece as more for it to be seen in general and not in one
specific place or angle.
Why did an artist make this work? o Monet created this because he saw something he wanted to
share with the world. He believed that there was something special about the mornings while on the
Siene that people wouldn't normally see or see at all. His goal was for people to understand his view
of the beauty in these scenes through his paintings.

In this class art has taught me many things that I didn't know before or that they were associated
with art particularly. This has gave me the opportunity to appreciate art and what it gives us the
chances to do with it. Art also has changed my views on many things. To be specific, according to
what I have learned in this class, it has changed my view on the role art has in reflecting social,
economic, and humanistic issues. Also, I have learned many new artists that had works that were
particularly meaningful in expanding my view of the world. All in all, art has many things to it to

Title: Cuteness and Loneliness Life is full emotions like happiness and sadness. People sometimes
feel happy, joyful, and cheerful, but sometimes sadness or depression. Edward Hopper and Takashi
Nakamura draw their paintings to express different feelings. In Edward Hopper's painting "Morning
Sun" (1952), he displays the image of a woman looking outside alone in order to symbolize the

collection in the world. He was a "German Expressionist" and later became part of a newer style of

D. May, CEO of the May Company, between 1945 and the mid–1950s began acquiring German
Expressionist works, a movement which was not well known in the United States at the time. May

The reason I chose this artwork was because it wasn't so much focused on the catastrophe itself, but
the people's effort for survival. On April 15, 1912, the Titanic sank in the North Atlantic Ocean. On
its maiden voyage to New York, New York it collided with an iceberg. On board were 2,200
passengers, of those 1,507 died. Beckmann was said to be inspired by news accounts to produce this
work which at the time was a current event. The date of this art work is 1912–1913, and the media is
oil on canvas. When we think of the sinking of the Titanic, we think about an unsinkable ship going
down. This painting is not about that. It is about the passengers and their fight for survival and what
they must have gone through. The story in this painting is about how they tried to survive and come
to terms with the possibility of death. It is painted on a huge canvas 8 foot by 11 foot in very dark

My little legs shuffled along as tried to catch up to my mother, taking the marble staircase two steps

designer. I was inspired, however, by his paintings and knew of him through those as well. I chose
to recreate one of Ewing Paddock's paintings from the London Underground series. I was inspired

The feel of the brush and the smoothness of the stroke when paint meets the canvas. This feeling is

Hung Liu is a Chinese–American contemporary artist. In the Scales of History exhibition, her
artworks mostly illuminates Chinese history. However, Dirty Pink expresses an American issue.

Continuing with my self promotion pieces to get PalbergWERX Design + Photography noticed in
this over stimulated communications age, I began work on my second famous artistic image in

This time I choose M.C. Escher's work 'Humanity'. Again, there have been numerous imitations and
this ribbon type illustration is well known to the general public.
This is a much more challenging project as the illustration is very precise in how it is able to convey
the front features of both characters as well as make a believable ribbon that shows both the volume
and shape of both heads.
As I mentioned, it was important that the work was now in the creative commons, even if I was not
going to use the original work in my promo piece itself. Below is the image that I achieved in my
first try at this. In hindsight, I had a few issues that I didn't fix, but will highlight during this article.

The first step is finding a suitable photo – in my case, I wanted two images of myself – but, not
mirrored and somewhat posed like the original Escher heads.

I began working the text in InDesign, just to find the right font combination as well as a rough
layout. I soon realized that writing the text all on a single line would be much too long for the image
and the result is that the text would be too small in proportion to the heads, it just wouldn't look

What is Art? In my previous post about what I thought art was, included multiple different ideas of
creative expression. My original post was very limited on basic knowledge of art, and I was not
including in depth explanations of art. I mentioned that art could be found in paintings, drawings,

The audience is inclined to take in Green͛ s practice at large rather than gaining a deeper insight into
each piece͛ s individual context (George, 2015, p. 39). Both curators convey their intentions through
the connections linking artist, content and context. This revised insight into the artists͛ practice is
transformed due to the associations drawn by the curator and presented to the viewer through the
exhibition rationale. The correlation between both showcases͛ intended premise combined with the
curators͛ selected pieces, assist the viewer in engaging with the artworks in a reinterpreted manner
from their original context. Due to the extensive assortment of practices incorporated in Less Than:
Art and Reductionism, the artists͛ intended meaning is adapted to fulfil the premise of the exhibition.
This is evident in Daniel McKewen͛ s Kafka On the Shore (2014) which explores capitalism through
the use of a financial algorithm depicted in the form of three over–sized gypsum and acrylic
polymer letter–forms mounted to the wall (QUT 2016). The conceptual premise of the work is
