Chanakya was an ancient Indian philosopher and economist who authored the Arthashastra. He helped bring small kingdoms together under one central governance to create a nation called Aryavartha, which later became India. As a political thinker, he was the first to conceptualize the idea of a nation. He served as an advisor to Chandragupta Maurya and helped establish the Maurya Empire. The Arthashastra contains advice on governance, economics, and foreign relations and outlines management principles that are still relevant today such as employee selection, the importance of leadership and self-discipline, and attracting top talent.
