- 1. How to Find Articles from the Library Databases
- 2. On the Internet, go to the Merced College webpage.
- 4. Click on: MC Portal
- 5. Type your log in information.
- 7. Click on: Find Databases
- 8. Databases can be selected by subject, type, or database name.
- 9. This example search will be on Academic Search Premier.
- 10. Click on: Advanced Search
- 12. Select the Full Text check box.
- 13. If required for an assignment, select the Peer Reviewed checkbox.
- 14. The Subject Terms field has been selected by clicking on the triangle of the dropdown menu. The word, “aluminum” will be searched as a subject term. The two general search fields have the terms, “recycling” and “products”.
- 15. Click on: Search, then wait a few seconds while the database searches for articles.
- 16. 34 articles have been retrieved.
- 17. Click on an article title to see more information about an article.
- 18. The subject terms and abstract give concise information about the main topics contained in the article.
- 19. Click on: PDF Full Text to view the actual article.
- 20. First page of the article.
- 21. To email an article, first click on: “E-mail”.
- 22. The email page has a few items to complete in order to send the article by email.
- 23. Click on the dropdown menu of Citation Format options and select the needed format, for example: MLA. Citation Format dropdown menu.
- 24. To email an article, type information in these two fields.
