This document provides instruction on using the indefinite articles "a" and "an" in English. It outlines 5 rules for using "a" which include using it before consonant sounds and words beginning with "eu", "ew" or "u" sounds. It also outlines 4 rules for using "an" which include using it before words beginning with vowels, vowel sounds, silent "h" and letters/acronyms beginning with vowel sounds. Examples are given for each rule. Later, students practice identifying whether "a" or "an" should be used in sample phrases. Finally, students are assigned to practice the rules and given homework.
