This document discusses Artsonomy, a system that allows museum visitors to tag artworks using their mobile phones. It works by having visitors scan QR codes next to artworks to link their phone to the artwork's ID. They can then add tags or comments about the piece which are stored in a database and displayed as a tag cloud on a website. This creates a social experience by allowing visitors to see and interact with each other's opinions. The system was tested at real museums in Italy.

The experience • Using Artsonomy during a visit to art galleries, for examples, visitor can share with others his tags about artworks. • Every visitor can see on the tagcloud what people think about artworks • Using a touchscreen each visitor could touch tags and see (for ex.) what wikipedia says about it. • This experience makes people discover social meanings of artwork.
