- 1. Assignment 1 guide In this report I will be discussing web authoring design conventions and software. Web authoring Web authoring is protocols, design conventions and software .Protocols is another word for rules and design conventions is when the rule of the thirds is used for the most important design principles composition of images and website. Also, the mean of software is instructions that control what a computer does and computer programs. Protocols Protocols are a part of web authoring and when discussing web authoring protocols. I’m talking about the rules which govern the exchange of data and information over the internet .Also the different protocols found in web design such as “URL, top level dolman name, Doman name, domain name register ETC.” URL URL (UNIFORM RESOURE LOCATER) the web address of a website example: http//Google.co.uk this protocol .Will direct you to the website that you want to go to. Top level Doman name Top level domain name: the last section of a URL (UNIFORM RESOURE LOCATER) they indicate the type of website or its location. For example, country codes “.uk, .jp.ie” and organisation codes “.ac .gov”. Doman name Doman name: The name of a website. These tend to be memorable so people can easily type them into an address bar or search engine. Domain name register

Domain name register: The way user buys a domain name is by register there self on a domain register website .For instance, my teacher Mr Akitt bought “Akitt” with a top level domain name “co .uk” these are used and managed by domain name register. Web page naming conventions Web page naming conventions: Are made of lots of pages, all using the same URL. It is important that each web page has a suitable name that reflects the content on that page. For instance, 1. Home page = www.example.com/index.htm 2. Contact us = www.example.com/contact.htm 3. About us = www.example.com/about.htm Website Design conventions The different design conventions behind authoring are: 1. The rules of thirds 2. Serif 3. Sans serif The rules of thirds The rules of thirds are one of the most important design principles .If it’s a rule that is applied to the layout and composition of images and website. Also how it gets respectable and decent look to it. Serif

When design a website you have to have things that is important such as serif and sans serif this is because you have to have certain text design to the certain website .There are two main kinds of front: serif and sans serif the meaning of serif is a slight projection finishing off a stroke of a letter in certain typefaces. For example, “serif ,serif, serif” and many more. Sans serif Sans Serif means the letters are clear and have no serifs (the design at the end of letters) When design a website you should also include sans serif to the serif this is because the applies you to type in a certain key and number key. For instance, (“1 ,2 ,3,4” and a ,b ,c,d”) Colour scheme

A combination of colours that has been chosen for a particular room or theme such as what they’re selling in the shop for example costa colour is a dark red(burgundy ) which mean relaxing, charm colour and which they can sell coffee or tea. Monochromatic Using only black, white, and grey, or using only one colour such as painting your room all “blue” Analogous An Analogous colour scheme is one which uses similar colours. Analogous colours are located next to each other on the colour wheel. For example Complimentary
- 5. Complimentary colours are ones which are opposite, but visually work very well together. They are always found opposite each other on the colour wheel. For example, “black and white” or “blue and red”. Software There are lots of tools and software available to build websites. These are divided into two categories such as: HTML Text Editors HTML Text Editors: A text editor is any word processing program that you can use to type and edit text. These let you type the HTML code that builds websites. They are dependent on your knowing all the code you will need to build the website you want and these let you build websites visually and do much of the programming for you. For example, for HTML TEXT EDITORS is “Notepad”. Visual Editors Visual Editors: Video editing is the process of editing segments of motion video production footage, special effects and sound recordings in the post-production process. For example, for visual editors is “FrontPage, Dreamweaver”. Conclusion

In conclusion this report has looked at numerous different amounts of aspects in Web Authoring, Protocols, URL, Top level Doman name, Doman name and Domain name register, Web page naming conventions, Website Design conventions and the rules of thirds such as “how the pictures has to look like”. Also Serif, Sans serif, Colour scheme for example for colour scheme “Monochromatic, Analogous and Complimentary” to add to that I did a lot of information about software .What I have learnt from this Assignment is how there are many rules and effects I must use on my superhero website as well I can use this in my own work because it can get me a higher level.
