                                   ASSIGNMENT 1


Question 1
A water drain from pipes AB, which forked into the pipe BC and the pipe BD. AB pipe is 90mm
in diameter and the flow velocity is 2.1m / s. Determine the volume flow rate in pipes BC and BD
if the volume flow rate in the pipe BC is 2.6 times larger than the volume flow rate in the pipe BD

Question 2

A Liquid with uniform density flowing at a rate of 18 liters / sec in the AB pipe with 115 mm
diameter. This pipe branched at B to the third pipe that is, BC, BD, and BE. BC and BD pipe
diameter is 32mm and BE pipe is 64mm diameter. The volume flow rate through the pipe BC is
2.7 times larger than the flow rate through the pipe BE. Flow velocity in the BD pipe is 4.3m / s.
Determine the discharge of pipe BC, BD and BE and the velocity of flow in pipes AB, BC and
BE.

Question 3
A venture meter installed on the 7.5mm pipe where the diameter at neck is 2.5cm. Determine
the rate of water through the pipe is in liters / minute if the head is 41.2cm high venturi meters
of water. Assume Cd = 0.97

QUESTION 1
A 100mm diameter pipe drain the water at a rate of 1.8 m3/minit, grows rapidly to a diameter of
150mm. Calculate;
a. The head loss due to shock
b. The pressure difference between points before and after enlargement.




QUESTION 2
Water drain pipe with a flow rate of 0.056m3/ s shrink dramatically from 200mm to 150mm
diameter. Calculate the head loss and the pressure difference on both sides of the pipe. Take
Cc = 0.62




QUESTION 3
A pipe with an area of 0.093 m2 with a flow rate of water flow 0.283 m3 / s. If they grow up to
0.372 m2 and the sudden pressure on a small portion is 4.8 kN/m2. Calculate;
a. The head loss
b. The pressure on big pipe

QUESTION 1

Drained water from a reservoir through a pipe of length 1200m which is 400 mm in diameter for
600 m long and 250 mm diameter for the remaining term. Calculate the flow rate in the pipe if
the level difference between the outlet of the reservoir water surface is 30m. The value of the
coefficient of friction f of the first pipe length as 0.004 and for the next pipe length as 0.006.




QUESTION 2

Two reservoirs connected by a pipe along the 360m. From the elevated tanks, pipes 300mm
diameter and over 150m. For the remainder of the long, 450mm diameter pipe. The velocity of
water in a small pipe is 1.2 m / s. Calculate;
a. The head loss in the inlet pipe
b. The head loss in the shock section
c. The head loss in drain
