This document discusses the author's interest in researching mathematics teachers' beliefs about homework and the role of parents. The author describes their experience teaching mathematics in both Greece and England. They conducted preliminary surveys of teachers in both countries that found teachers believe homework contributes to learning, but there were differences in views about parental involvement. The author aims to conduct a comparative analysis of Greek and English secondary mathematics teachers' beliefs about homework and the role of parents through a refined research question and review of literature on homework.
